Default Kelly Washington - Special teams ace ......and unheralded but superb at his job

You know we talk about all the great receivers this team has but we forget to mention another receiver who has taken the Patriots way and does his job specifically on special teams without complaining about offense playing time and that guy is Kelly Washington.

Rarely does he get mentioned if at all this year but I must take my hat off to this guy who is almost always one of the first guys down the field to make the tackle and when he gets there he rarily misses and is a BIG reason why so many opposing teams start at the 20 or less.

This guy needs to be on this team again next year and if any of the WRs go he can also be a good insurance policy at WR - Kelly has been awesome as a special teams player AND as a WR who gets no recognition of that position because he has rarily played on offense but does his duty as STs ace and does a great job!

Anyone who has watched a Patriots game this year should definately see #15 down the field faster than most of the guys - give Kelly his due!

We need #15 on this team in 2008!

Great gunner. Right up there with SD's superb Kassim Osgood.

The Jaguars obviously saw this in the film room ...

Washington only had 1 tackle today.

I'd rather have Washington back than Stallworth, that's for sure. He's a great player, Brady says he's the strongest receiver he's ever played with and listening to his interviews he's the consummate team player. No knock against Donte but I think Washington is more valuable overall.

Its not really always the fact of how many tackles he makes but the way he makes the guy catching the ball have to change direction which usually results in a short gain.

Forget the stats with this type of player,They are worthless,Especially in ST plays like I mentioned.

I can't agree with you more but Kelly's age may be a factor in thier decision next year - Is Kelly like 34? or is he younger?

Regardless its a no brainer to keep him on the 2008 roster IMO

Count me in as a major supporter for Washington. We have to keep him on the team for next year.

Washington is a whopping eight months older than his minor league roommate Josh Beckett. [He turned 28 this past August.]

Well thats great hes only 28,I thought he was older than that -

I think that pretty much sums his chances of making the roster next year...100%

Shows why the Bengals are what they are,Letting guys like this go just because they have too many solid receivers,Teams don't think more like the Pats do.
