Default How do you expect the giants to play?

this isnt a personnel question so much. Regardless of who plays will they play loose and free knowing they have nothing lose or will they just take it easy . the way the giants play normally always look they are tense and uptight like their coach . will their current position make them play relaxed ? considering how the eagles game turned out i wont be surprised if the giants play with a lot of emotion to start the game which hopefully will wear down ...
thoughts ?

The Giants will limit guys who are dinged up most likely. Theres no reason for them to go all out in this game

Secondly, i really don't get all the hype about this game. Its not the 16-0 that matters. Its the 19-0. If the Pats dont win the Superbowl, no one is going to care about the unbeaten season. No one is going to compare them to the 72 Dolphins. It wouldn't be perfection unless they cap it off. they have 4 games to go for the perfect season, not one. Im pretty sure you guys would agree with that. In fact if they went 16-0 and didnt win the Superbowl, they'd probably be better off having gone 15-1 instead. Because a perfect regular season that doesnt end in a SB win will be remembered as a classic choke. That would be the legacy of the 2007 Pats if they didnt finish it off, fair or unfair

No one is going to remember who the Pats beat in week 17. They will remember the culmination of the perfect season if/when they hoist the trophy

It sounds to me like the G men will be taking this game off, pretty much.
They have a short week to prepare for Tampa Bay.

Disagree bud......We already now HOLD the record for the most wins in a regular season (Beating the 72 doofins previous record of 14 straight regular season wins) ....Winning 16 games in a row TIES the consecutive win record that the same doofin team had......so we will tie that.......If we win 17 straight we will establish a new record for consecutive wins.........Now.....If we don't win the SB....they can say that we beat the consecutive win record but did not win the SB,....either way IT WILL BE REMEMBERED.....and is already an incredible accomplishment......Most importantly you have to look at the era in which the Pats are playing which is ultra competitive.....Most of the 72 doofins would not make our practice squad.......The game is faster, more talented, bigger players that are also faster..........we play 16 regular season games and 4 preseason games before getting to the playoffs......We are comparing apples and oranges in regards to what the Pats have done this year.......vs what the 72 doofins did......

I totally agree the 2007 Pats would wipe the floor with the 72 Dolphins, they had 245-250 lbs offensive linemen in that era. But thats really not the point. You can only look at teams in comparison to their era. The 2007 Dolphins (1-14) would kill the 72 Dolphins. Do you think a team who had an average size offensive line in the 240-250 lbs range could beat an NFL team today? And players are faster. Advances in nutrition and fitness (not to mention undetectable performance enhancing drugs, for many) make players today far more big, powerful and athletic then guys of 30 years ago. In 1972 there wasnt a single 300 lbs player in the NFL. Today each roster has 10-12

They would kill the 72 Fins, But thats not really the point. You just have to look at what each team did to their respective leauge. A fantasy matchup between the 2 will never happen, so thats all that goes down. If the Pats werent to win the Superbowl this year, no one is gonna look at their season and think it was as good as the Miami season, in their era, against their league. It was perfection, zero blemishes, on through the playoffs when the games mattered most, and they capped it off by hoisting a trophy. If the Pats can do that (And I think they will, barring the any given Sunday argument there is no logical reason to think they wont win it all) then they can be right there with Miami, and even more impressive because they went 19-0, and it would be their 4th ring in the Belichick-Brady era.

But if they don't? Then this season will go down as a year where the Pats were a dominant team but couldn't get the job done when it mattered most. It would be looked at as a choke. Thats not to say going 16-0 isnt impressive, but when you go 16-0 you sort of put yourself in a position where you have no other alternative but to win the SB. When you are as dominant as the Pats are there is an expectation that this season needs to finish in the way everyone expects. That may not be fair, but they are a victim of their own greatness.

The '72 team won 17 straight, not 16.

Ratings. Who is promoting the game? What network is showing the game?

The Giants will keep out any who need the rest. The players who play will play their hearts out.

And yes, 16-0 does mean a lot. The SB is of course most important. However, winning on Saturday will make us one of two teams that played an undefeated regular season.

At this point, the Patriots have no other alternative than winning the Super Bowl, 16-0 or not. After last year's disappointment, this is what we've all been waiting for. Few of us expected such regular season success... but we'd all be hugely disappointed if the team comes away without another ring.
