Yes, that would be moronic, but that is NOT what happened.

What happened? That was my understanding of what happened also.

There was a 5 yard penalty for the 'illegal' consequitive TO. 51-5 does not equal 36. NFL gamebook has the details I'm sure.

I also thought it was a 15-yard penalty. I could be wrong.

EDIT: (from ESPN.com)
Lindell made a 51-yard attempt that didn't count because Gibbs called timeout just as the ball was snapped. Gibbs then called another timeout as Lindell lined up a second time, but consecutive timeouts aren't allowed in the NFL -- and they result in a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty when specifically called to freeze the kicker.

Aqua4Ever04 had it right.

I stand corrected on the penalty being 15 vs 5 yards. I looked it up and confirmed it.

It was a 15 yarder for unsportsmanlike conduct. I thought it should have been a five yard delay of game.

Up until a few years ago, the second TO would have just been ignored. Unfortunately, one team got a little too cute with that rule (calling "fake" TOs to screw with kickers), so the Polian Committee made it unsportsmanlike conduct.
