With All this media frenzy (especially certain individuals) are harping so much on this "good" vs. "evil" thing.. Plus all the opinions on "running up the score" (or as I see it playing the game as it is meant to be)

Would there be any change that this will get into the subconscious (or worse conscious) of the ref's on the field when they need to make calls, especially iffy ones?

I am sure these gentlemen are professionals in their field, but they are also human. And if you look at sports all over the world it would not be the first time a ref call is influenced by one thing or another.( not liking a country, gambling on the game, etc.)


Again, this is only a rhetorical question, but I would like to see what your opinions are on this.

And yes this can happen to any team...

I would have to think they would be influenced to call a tighter game. The NFL wouldn't want one bad call overshadowing the game.

I personally think NFL influence can have a greater effect on how a game is called.

Fine, on topic:

Officials are rated on EVERY play, whether they had a call or not. The media has ZERO effect on the refs, the NFL can influence how games are called by the ratings they give. Now these ratings are consistent from game to game, I do not think the NFL would influence one particular in season game in any particular way other than by what they had been telling their officials leading up to said game. Therefore, I would say the only effect the NFL will have on the refs for Sunday is how they have been telling their officials to work starting at the beginning of the year.

The media? Zilch.
