Rhetorical ?: Can media created hype/public opinion effect refs?
With All this media frenzy (especially certain individuals) are harping so much on this "good" vs. "evil" thing.. Plus all the opinions on "running up the score" (or as I see it playing the game as it is meant to be)
Would there be any change that this will get into the subconscious (or worse conscious) of the ref's on the field when they need to make calls, especially iffy ones?
I am sure these gentlemen are professionals in their field, but they are also human. And if you look at sports all over the world it would not be the first time a ref call is influenced by one thing or another.( not liking a country, gambling on the game, etc.)
Again, this is only a rhetorical question, but I would like to see what your opinions are on this.
And yes this can happen to any team...
