Default Let's not look past the Jets

I'm sure most of us are still taking the game very seriously, I just hope no one is expecting an easy win for the Pats.

The Jets offense was absolutely terrible but our defense is not on par with that of the Ravens. Let's not assume we will also be able to hold them to 6 first downs. They should be able to move the ball a bit better. The key will be doing what the Ravens did, hold them to FGs.

The Jets D looked fantastic, even after Jenkins went down. It will be a real test for our offense. We'll need great pass protection and great play from our WRs. If they have a chance to make a play, they need to make it. Our RBs will need to pick up some tough yards from time to time. We're not going to average 5 yards per carry but if we need a yard, they need to get it.

I doubt we see 15 penalties from the Jets again so we need to play sound football in all three phases. We can't count on free yards.

It's going to be a really tough test. The Jets know that starting 0-2 with 2 conference and home losses will put them in hole, not to mention start a firestorm from the media and fans. I hope the Pats can get out to a quick start and stay in control of the game. That will go a long way in getting the win.

The Jets D didn't look that brilliant to me, the Ravens play calling was terrible and Flacco made some poor decisions and a couple of overthrown passes which would have resulted in big gains or even TD's.

Saying that I don't expect the Jets to be as ill disciplined on Sunday, but I suspect they will leave the middle of the field open for the likes of Welker, Edelman and the TE's to pick up medium gains all day long.

Really it doesn't matter who is taking the Jets lightly as long as it's not the players or coaches.

Unlike what folks saw on Hard Knocks this summer, BB, his staff and the players conduct themselves like adults with the overall goal each week to improve and win. There's nothing to suggest anyone who matters is taking the Jets lightly.

On the contrary, I expect a week of laser like focus in practice and meetings and a highly competitive effort on Sunday win or lose.

Just for the record. I am looking past the Jets and the Colts. And gonna jump all the way to looking past the Dolphins for a second time.

So anyone want to speculate what team will be coming to Foxboro the week of Jan 15-16th for New England's first playoff game?

BB always has a little extra motivation when the Jets hit the schedule. Maybe even a bit more now that Toothy the Whale has arrived as HC.

We fans can look past the Jets all we want, who cares? All that matters is that the team doesn't, and considering how much the Jets have been talking for the entire offseason, I'm sure they won't. The Pats are going to bring their A+ game for this one on principle alone.

What impressed me the most about the Jets was that run defense. The Ravens could get no movement even when the Jets were playing small ball with their personnel. We need to get a good push from our line because we need the threat of the run for our playaction. Brady is deadly at times with that.
