Default Marcus Spears - Dumbest man in the NFL

Watch this:

http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d80336382

Now, I'm not saying that you can't believe what he said is true. Everyone has a right to their opinions, though, it's one level of stupid to actually think something like that is true. However, it's chartering previously unknown depths of human stupidity to put air behind those inner thoughts during the week when you're playing the Patriots.

Edit: The same goes for Son of Bum and his recent backtracking.

Really think the "don't want to piss off any Patriots because they will crush us" thing is WAY overplayed. I really don't think what anyone is going to say at this point is going to fire up the Pats any more than they are already. Lets relax a bit. The Patriots are not the Hulk...the angier they get the stronger they get.

LOL! Thanks, Marcus. Gotta love the Bulletin Board material. Even though it's stupid and shouldn't help motivate a team of professionals, it always seem to fuel the fire. Pats in a romp and F off to Marcus.

Marcus Spears didn't really say anything you guys haven't been hearing for weeks. Everyones been saying this, and most players have been coming out calling you dirty. I imagine in order for something to be bulletin board material and causes motivation it needs to be fresh.

I kind of wish someone would trash talk, I don't think the patriots have the mental fortitude to take it.

Yeah. The Patriots terrible record the last 5 years or so certainly proves that.

Right. Because the Patriots haven't dealt with that and kicked its ass OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER for almost a decade. Where do you come up with this stuff? Do you follow football?

You vastly underestimate how much this stuff resonates in locker rooms. Almost to a man/woman, reporters who cover this team will tell you that this sort of thing gives the Pats just that much more motivation to go out and smash a team in the mouth.

What gets annoying is the fans who constantly downplay bulletin board material as though it were some meaningless thing in which only fans partake. That simply isn't true.

Agreed. As I said upthread, we KNOW it "shouldn't" make a difference, especially considering these are "professionals" who have plenty of "motivation" without "silly things" like "trash-talk" and "bulletin-board material."

Well, fellas, "shouldn't" is irrelevant. What's relevant is "does." As in it DOES affect the team. DOES raise the level of motivation. It doesn't really matter if people think it's silly - the bottom line is, the Pats have shown COUNTLESS times that they take some advantage of the "disrespect" or whatever, and I assume they will do the same thing here. Pile those chips up on your shoulders, Rodney and Co. Works every time. EVERY. TIME.

Whats up with you guys and the 5 year and 6 year were so amazing come backs. Seriously, I can go on and talk about former glory years...

Yes, I follow football more than some baseball/football local homer who only follows their team when its winning. Only pathetic teams need bulletin board material week in and week out to come out on Sunday/Monday and perform. Look at those weak dolphins trying to guarantee wins and talk trash every week, yet they do nothing. They are trying motivational tactics that end up failing. Keep it in the lockerroom....

Bulletin board material is a plus to keep your team motivated when EASY teams are coming up. You don't really need bulletin board material when playing 5-0 teams. The motivation for playing those teams comes from the need to prove yourself on the public stage.

But what do I know about football...

Do you follow the Patriots? Do you have any idea the asinine lengths to which their locker room goes to manufacture disrespect and chips on their shoulders? Obviously you don't. We're talking from experience here. Marcus Spears comments - as ridiculous as this sounds - will MAKE A DIFFERENCE to this team. It will add to their being pissed off. Trust us. It may be silly or childish, but - wait for it... - it is what it is.
