Eh, I don't know. We'll see. I think the Pats came out a little flat vs. the Browns, but I also think Romeo Crennel did a nice job taking Moss away, defensing Brady in general - I mean we still put up big points and won handily, but it wasn't necessarily JUST the Pats being bored.
And the Pats don't look for disrespect JUST against bad teams, and I'm sure they don't overlook the Cowboys. Most of us here think the Patriots will win, but I think we all consider Dallas a very good challenge. The thing is, the Pats LIKE being dissed to the point that they exaggerate at times and create bulletin board material to then "respond" to.

To be fair to Romo-I thought he just started pressing too hard in the Buff game. I hope it was a learning experience for him(and to be fair to TO, Romo overthrew a couple of potential TDs to him, and missed another on the 5th INT). Maybe the crowd noise made him nervous? I dunno.
With that being said-Honestly, I don't expect Brady to start coming out pressing or anything. I wish, but doesn't look like it.

Honestly, though, Rodney Harrison is the main culprit in the locker room when it comes to spreading these things around. I think he should be given an honorary position: DS - Disrespected Saftey. You can be a choir boy all week long and he'll find a way to manufacture some sort of insult you may or may not have said about him, the team, or any living human being in general. In that respect, like patsox said, they are somewhat childish. But hey, it works, apparently.

I think it's totally pointless for any Pats fan - or any ANY fan, for that matter - to think/hope Romo's performance THIS week will be informed on any level by how crappy he looked last week. I think it was an aberration. I hope I'm wrong, but the guy can play. He just sucked last week. He'll be far better Sunday afternoon.

Yes, I follow football more than some baseball/football local homer who only follows their team when its winning. Only pathetic teams need bulletin board material week in and week out to come out on Sunday/Monday and perform. Look at those weak dolphins trying to guarantee wins and talk trash every week, yet they do nothing. They are trying motivational tactics that end up failing. Keep it in the lockerroom....
Bulletin board material is a plus to keep your team motivated when EASY teams are coming up. You don't really need bulletin board material when playing 5-0 teams. The motivation for playing those teams comes from the need to prove yourself on the public stage.
But what do I know about football...
Your asking us this question after your "mental fortitude" statement? And yes the Patriots recent history is a valid point concerning your assertion's as that recent history proves they're more than able when dealing with simular situations. If anything they've been one of the best teams in the league at getting an opponents head out of the game, but you've been watching football for years so you must have already known this?

I have to admit-teams like Baltimore, Pitt, SD, etc pride themselves on statistics(i.e. being the #1 D in the league in ALL categories, et al). However-what I've really liked how NE during their run this decade is how they're quite the contrary.
That '01 team was what-15th in yardage allowed and scoring D? And those '03 and '04 teams weren't exactly the '85 Bears or the '00 Ravens, but they must have set a record for most defensive stops at the right times(i.e. when they stuffed the Colts 1 yard short in an '03 reg season game).
Pt being that the Pats always get their matchups spot on at the right places and at the most opportune times. The stat sheets may not show it, but they get rewarded with many more W's.

Yea, and you have to remember they battled record setting injuries during those 2003-2004 seasons, which only added to their defensive scheme being that of "bend but don't break" They'd let you move the ball down the field but once you got inside the 20 it was very tough going.

I've said this in many other threads-honestly, over that '99-'01 three year span, the national sports media kept making Kurt and Sue Warner look like Brangelina.
Alot of football fans are VERY thankful that you guys finally exposed the Rams for the frauds they are(in that SB, I couldn't help but laugh every time Bruce/Holt/Az-Hakim kept hitting the ground every time a Pats defender was in front of them)-since then, Warner's MVP trophies are full of dust, and he's been lucky to get serviceable backup roles since.

Yea, they had that bend but don't break scheme workin' to perfection, as they would give up yards but were 1st in scoring defense in 2003 and 3rd in scoring defense in 2004. Just goes to show you going by yardage allowed rankings doesn't tell you entirely enough of the story. To think they had the no.1 & no.3 scoring D's in '03/'04 while going through those record setting injuries I talked about. Pretty amazing really. Oh, and from 2003 to present NE's 16.5 PPG allowed is number one in the entire NFL during that time span.

Ive been only watching the 2007 Patriots for 3 weeks, studying you as our game gets closer. You are a good team who seems to get bored playing weaker teams as you progress throughout the season. If your coaches and leaders don't create ways to keep your team motivated when playing those lesser teams you might end up with a loss.
If you think the cowboys are a lesser team and you need material to keep yourself motivated, your coaches and players are strongly mistaken.
I'm out for tonight, will bookmark till after Sundays game. I usually surf opposing forums, but don't rub it in their faces after we win because of karma.
Chances are we won't see you guys for 4 years after this week, hope it turns out to be an amazing game.
Hmmmmm the pats get bored of weaker opponents and come out with 17+ point wins every week. The cowboys play the bills and need everything to go right in the last 2 minutes to squeak out with a win. Yea you definitely follow football and your vast football intelligence just shows all over this thread...
