Oh wait! The Texans played without their best wide receiver and the Broncos played without their best wide receiver. The Colts defense have led a charmed life this season.

So who is the replacement for Morris? A rookie?
You really can't complain about playing against injuries, nearly every has been bitten. Rocky Boiman is his back-up, in his 6th year from ND. Tyjuan Hagler could also be a factor if Boiman struggles. Though Boiman started two games already when Morris was nicked up earlier this season.

At IndyStar, he was one of the most ridiculed players.

I do not see this as much of a loss.

Although I hate to see any player knocked out foir the year ... even a Dolt.
He was ridiculed in the past. Nearly everyone there has had a change of heart since he switched positions.

His loss will be felt. If not on D, it will be on special teams.

Sounds like table scraps to me. By the way, Boiman blows. I certainly hope this Hagler has some fight in him.

my point was that if they were better players last year they would (or should) have been starting last year. Absent a sudden and significant improvement between seasons, they were either inferior players when other guys were starting or your coach was foolishly starting inferior players.

I guess they could both just happen to be reaching the point where they're better than last year's guys at the right time. The more likely scenario is that they still have to grow into that role.

I have no issue with people thinking that losses won't be significant, but asking me to believe that back-ups are better than starters is stretching things.

Just playing devil's advocate...why wasn't Brady starting then?

Because Bledsoe was the franchise quarterback and an icon in NE.

Word is that Belichick liked Brady over Bledsoe entering 2001. Starting him would have put Brady into an impossible spot though and he would have been killed by the press and fans for every mistake he made.

Perhaps Belichick learned something from unceremoniously cutting Bernie Kosar in Cleveland and didn't want to deal with that again.

It's a good point on your part, but a special case nonetheless.

1) I agree. I hope that Morris makes a full recovery and can resume his career. He's the only player in the dolt's front 7 who could fit in the NEP's system.

2) Add the Irsays, naPolian, the Mannings and Dungheep, too.

No way, no how. Morris isn't even close to what NE needs. He is closer to Monte Beisel than he is a guy who could fit in with NE. I see no reason why Freeney wouldn't be able to play for NE, but I either don't have enough info on anybody else or I don't think they fit NE's system.

It seemed last year Morris had finally found his nich OLB. He and Sanders solidified the Indy run defense imo.
