You might want to clarify... you mean assuming that everyone at WR and DB are healthy?
If there are injuries and a need, obviously its a different story.
But overall I think Troy falls into another category that you haven't addressed- shadow roster, being signed and placed on the active roster one week depending on need, with some other periphery player being cut - and being cut the next... effectively a week to week roster decision
I really don't see Troy going somewhere else and playing for another team at this point.
If Welker was injured for any length of time - I hate the thought... - who would be the backup in the slot? I imagine Gaffney would step in, but you'd also have to think Troy would be a likely candidate for that role.

Your correct, I assume that all the WR's are healthy. CJ's status also effects this.
My opinion is that this is a "reward" year for Troy, and the salary is just for being Troy. He was signed in case that Welker didn't work out. Now that he is, Troy gets to enjoy the fruits of his long career, with a bonus (this years salary) to boot.
I asked this question elsewhere and don't think I ever got an answer. If a player is placed on IR, can he then take a coaching job with the team, or is he banned from doing so?
I don't think there is room for him on the roster, but BB has always says he has a spot on the "team." I think they will try to get him to be a coach if he can't be a player. Come to think of it, I don't think they will put him on the IR as that would preclude him from being on the shadow roster. I think they will "cut" him, or he'll "retire" and be a coach, and if they need him later in the season, suddenly he'll come out of retirement or cut-hood.
There was some rumor he might be cut..but I think more likely, he's added, depending on what's going on with the team. The Shadow Roster is another possibility, but, I think if he''s cut, he'll find a spot somewhere else...the Jets??
I don't buy 'retire' because I don't see how he gets paid. He's paid on IR.
Coaches work too hard and don't get paid that much, unless you're DC or OC.

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.
This is known as "bad luck." RAH

To be honest, I'd be perfectly OK with doing the same deal next year, giving Troy vet min just for being a part of the team. PUP, whatever, I'm sure the guy is a leader and a great guy to have as part of the organization.

Please perish the thought. I cannot imagine Troy as a Jet.

His practice window doesn't have to start until week 9, then he gets 3 weeks to practice. Than means they don't have to decide until the end of week 11 what they're going to do with him. There could be injuries by that point. My guess is if the current crew stays healthy, Brown goes on IR.
