Default semi OT, Zach Thomas and Joey Porter

Okay, so Zach Thomas may miss the Jets game because he is being tested for a possible concussion from last week's game:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3029615

That makes sense. He's a MLB. But what do you make of Joey Porter's comments on the subject:

Teammate Joey Porter said Thomas displayed no symptoms during the game, other than repeatedly wanting a new mouthpiece.

"When you have a concussion or something, a new mouthpiece always fits tighter and you get a better grip on it," Porter said. "He had a mouthpiece, but he just wanted another one. A brand new one is harder. The old one, you tend to chew on it, and you wear it out a little bit."

Sounds like he was just ranting about mouthpieces. The man better be saving his money because after football he couldnt get a job at a McDonalds.

LOL. What it sounds like he's saying is that you'd think Zach would have wanted to use his old mouthpiece since it's softer than a new one and wouldn't likely cause the same type of pressure on your lobe....but that's only my guess

There was an article posted here last summah about how a dentist who supplies the Patriots has invented a mouthpiece that greatly reduces the incidence of concussions. Playing soon after a concussion has LONG TERM health impact on a player. Sit out the Jets game, Zach.
