No, you misunderstood my point. If his job was 90% catching, what would his job be on all the run plays? I know he wasn't in on ALL the run plays, but he certainly was on a lot of them, a lot more than 10%. When a receiver isn't catching, he usually has to block.

People tend to overthink things too much, especially in a complicated game like football. In analyzing Moss's impact, I was struck by all the time Brady had. Was that because our OL was awesome? Was it because the Jets sucked? Or was it because there was no safety blitzing because the Jets were deathly afraid of Moss.

I go with number three. Moss's impact on the game could be felt even when he wasn't catching passes.

Just compare this offense with th one that lost to the Colts. Night and day.

About half of the time when the Patriots had one wide receiver on the field (and thus a big set with Kyle Brady, Watson, and Evans or an unbalanced line with O'Callaghan), Moss was in there. The other half was Kelley Washington. Moss blocked fairly well, but most of the time simply took off down the field. In the end, that was more effective than run blocking; the guy covering him always took off with him and thus was out of the play. Washington is a good blocker, though. In fact, the Patriots used him as a third TE in an unbalanced line set on several occasions, and he was standing up linebackers.

As a new poster on this board, and someone who saw Moss dog it repeatedly in a Viking uniform at Gilette, I think the question is a legit one. Sure Moss was FANTASTIC yesterday, but he'll be judged on the long term body of his work. I think the question asked, if answered, could provide insight into Randy's attitude as a Patriot. The answer could predict great things, or it could signal some slightly negative things in the future, or it could mean nothing.

I appreciate the question as asked, not in the overall outcome of yesterday, but what it may say about how Moss may have (hopefully) changed his ways.

As to the topic of Moss blocking ..... wtf does it matter?

If the Pats coaches ask Moss to risk injury and block they outta have their heads examined. I know the Pats are all about versatility and whatnot but you don't ask a thoroughbred horse like Moss to do the job of a quarter horse. That's akin to asking Brady to lead the way on a sweep. Like that;'s gonna be a call coming in from the sidelines.

Besides, running Moss downfield taking 2 or 3 defenders with him, is much more valuable than having him attempt to block some LB or safety on the oft chance that he'll help spring someone.

I'm not sure why people are getting defensive, it's not like he asked if you people have anal sex with your partners.

Did Moss run block at all yesterday...

It's a simple question, normally answered with a pretty straight forward answer. Does it really matter if Gisele can cook...not really if you're looking to bang a hot supermodel for a while...but if you're looking for the total package, you might want to date a girl who can cook if you yourself cannot. Did/Can Randy Moss run block...it's a good question, and good to know the answer too. When we need 2 yards, not 20...it might be nice to know you can run it to his side and he'll pick someone up. Everyone else on the team has many roles...why should Moss be any different. Moss is a benefit to this team, not a need...

THANK YOU!!!!

So don't be looking for the littel things he may or may not do. Focus on the main thing. And on the main thing, he received an A+ rating yesterday.

P.S. Being negative isn't about picking on each other here...no one cares about that. Being negative is looking for the little flaws in your team when they played one of their best games in a couple of years.

We're not here to pretend we're professional analysts because....well, WE'RE NOT!
1st off, I don't need to let Baron defend himself. What you fail to realize is that your stupid post opened yourself up to other people answering you. And I did.

2ndly, who the hell are you to say what ALL fans evaluate a player on? For your information, one of the KNOCKS on Moss was that he wasn't a good run blocker and that he was lazy on plays. All Baron wanted was some information as to whether anyone saw that in yesterday's game.

3rdly, Since you obviously haven't learned this about LIFE in general, let me fill you in on something. Its the LITTLE THINGS that count the most.

4th, No one claimed to be a professional analyst. But there are people on this website who are amateur analysts (Pats1 and Box of Rocks) who do a phenomenal job on break downs of plays.

5th, The guy asked legitimate questions. Just because you don't know the answers or don't think they are important doesn't mean that person is trying to be NEGATIVE about Moss. As I said, the only people being NEGATIVE were YOURSELF and NORDY. Because you attacked him because he wanted some information. He wasn't trying to NITPICK. You taking it as nitpicking IS being negative, fool.

And LASTLY, I'm sorry to say but you are CLUELESS about what fansites are supposed to be. Two of the best Patriots fan sites are this one and PatriotsPlanet. BOTH have people who do a damn good job at breaking down plays from their TIVO/DVR and reporting on what they see. I suggest that if you truly want to LEARN about the game and become an EDUCATED FAN, you go and take a look at them. You'll amaze yourself at how much you can learn if you actually opened your mind instead of insisting on being ignorant.

Guess what? I knew that already. You don't need to "Try" to put me in my place. I know my place and I'm right where I'm supposed to be my friend...than you, thank you very much!

Maybe you missed it or your eyes/memory are failing you. I'm not pregnant my little man...I AM

try not to forget it again
Man, you are one arrogant screwed up person.

Where to start with your idiocy. Just because people like to LEARN about the game so they can be informed. YOU clearly are one of the "RAH RAH" fans who either doesn't want to know or isn't intelligent enough to understand how the game is played. And, because of your laziness or ignorance, you feel you have the right to be negative and shoot down others who would rather educate themselves.

BTW, you really should learn to read better. ClevTrev wasn't calling you pregnant. He was pointing out that you referred to yourself in the PLURAL instead of the singular. You incorrectly tried to group all the educated fans in with your uneducated blathering.
