Default First Stab at Gameday Inactives

With everyone practising in full pads Wednesday ... and presumably available ...
it is tempting to try to discern thru the mists who shall be inactive Sunday.

I'll go with (plus Gut, of course):
James ... Baker ... Herron ... Brown ... Britt ... Yates ... and Rivers.

Would like Kareem to get a chance to break in against this O-line
... but can't figure whom he'd replace.

Watcha think?

I think this sounds pretty close. No WR out? Maybe Gaffney, depending on health, keeping one of the OL. I think Baker, Herron and Britt are definites, though. I PRAY James is. He's J U N K.

The first injury report is due out around 4 p.m. ...in advance of that:
Thomas, Baker, Brown, Gaffney, Hochstein, Britt, Herron...

I assume you mean Hochstein inactive because he's injured. Otherwise he's their top G/C backup and a goal line blocking TE. Or do you think Yates has passed him in that regard?

Looks like you favor the Lingering Injury theory of who don't play.

Well, Hochstein survived past the first injury report, so now it's most recent practice time which still tilts to Yates. I consider Russ ahead of Billy in the interior reserve race by virture of his proven ability to start at Center and Guard, where Billy has only gotten three starts at Guard. I suspect the gap between them had closed considerably when Billy was given a three year deal last Spring. If it was me (and be thankful it's not) I'd still hold Russ out of this game to give him an extra week of rest and practice before San Diego. I would also do the same with Mike Wright even though he isn't listed here...the depth at DL is not good right now.

Perceptive as usual! If you look at the roster, there just doesn't seem to be any obvious players with whom you might question their skill set for this game. Brown and Herron are the exceptions, and both would be good on Special Teams (I've started slo-motioning the last Minny preseason game and Herron is in on all STs, he isn't making big plays, but he's in the right place each time - I'm getting good vibes so far). That leaves getting players healthy as the primary reason for sitting them. I think the biggest challenge is to determine who gets cut Saturday to bring Santonio up for the game. I'm leaning toward Baker, which means we need another inactive...or they could go with James since he would have the right to decline another team's offer.

I can't see us dressing 5 QR and 3 TE's. I think Gaffney will sit and Brown will be active. It would be useful for Brown to have some garbage time reps.

why would James or Baker be out?

Rodney out..Baker impressed and James is needed at CB with Meriweather maybe going Safety more.

Safeties
Wilson
Sanders
Meriweather
Mitchell
Baker
Andrews

Corners
Samuel
Hobbs
Gay
James

Andrews/Meriweather play CB/Safety

if anyone is inactive its a safety probably Mitchell/Andrews/maybe Baker since hes been hurt

no way does James sit. Hes the 4th CB and plays ST i believe. and with our luck..a DB usually gets hurt so we need 4 at CB

if Harrison was here..James could be inactive since Meriweather could do a little more CB
