Default Jets looking for more leftovers (Reche visits)

September 4, 2007
Reche visits Jets
By Mike Reiss, Globe Staff

The Jets hosted free-agent receiver Reche Caldwell on a visit at their team headquarters today.

The visit comes one day after Caldwell was released by the Patriots.

The Jets have six receivers on the roster: Jerricho Cotchery, Laveranues Coles, Justin McCareins, Brad Smith, Wallace Wright and Chansi Stuckey.

It is possible that they have genuine interest in Caldwell, who led the Patriots with 61 receptions last season. Or they might be more interested in some information he could pass along about how the Patriots are preparing to attack the Jets.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to grab since he could help them prepare for this week's game. I don't see how they can carry another receiver, they have six already.

Why do people keep acting like the Milloy thing was bad for the Pats? I would love to have the Jets beat us 31-0, then have us go on to back-to-back superbowl wins and a 21 game winning streak.

No friggin way... I live in NY dude.. Those Jets fans are still marveling about that lucky win they squeeked out in Foxboro last year.. Imagine they beat them in the opener.. Forget it..

I'd have to think given the way that the Jets at least host a visit with everyone we cut that BB implements some sort of measures so that Caldwell isn't walking in there with the complete plan of attack.

I agree. There's no way the Jets would sign him and keep him past monday 9/10. They're deep enough at WR and can use the roster spot at a position of need (i.e. OL)

Imagine that. They'll announce him last during introductions like they did with Milloy. "and at Wide receiver RECHE CALLLLLDWELLLL" That would be funny.
