Default A humble request for chat-room people...

For those of us without TV, who are really depending on guys like pats1 (but others, as well), if at all possible, during the game tonight, can you err on the side of being literal and specific - along with the expected exclamations and profanities. It's really appreciated and very helpful to those of us WITHOUT a visual to hear more than "Damn!" and "Wow!" which I'm sure there will be plenty of, as well.

Not asking every single guy in the room to temper how they react/type, just something it would be terrific for people to keep in mind, as a favor to the less fortunate like myself.

Thanks. Go Pats.

No offense, and my sincerest apologies that you don't have game access but that's a pretty selfish request.

Pats1 gives you alot of game information very quickly, so if the fact that you can't see why someone is saying WOW or DAMN, that's a sacrifice YOU will have to make. Why ruin the chatroom gameday experience for the majority?

The profanity I can also do without.

I agree with ps23's (very moderately expressed) request.

I can't see that typing Wow! Damn! (or the more usual WTF!) is an important part of the gameday experience. Is it too much of an extra sacrifice to have to type "Wow! Great catch by Gaffney! Or, "Damn! Picked off in the endzone!"? I'd hope not.

Slag - I think you mis-read what Patsox23 was asking. All he was asking was that if people say WOW or DAMN OR ****, that they explain why. Its not that big of a deal. And it sure as hell won't ruin the chatroom gameday experience for the majority. On the contrary. The more literal information you get, the BETTER the experience will be.

You're right.

I did mis-read it. My apologies.

I just don't want anybody to come in with "Mike Riess" or other such usernames, as had happened last year.

Couldn't agree more. And yes, thanks to all for clarifying my post, I certainly would never ask anyone NOT to type certain things - Hell, I'M going to type Wow and Damn sometimes once I know what I'm Wow-ing and Damn-ing about.

Also, I hope it's clear I'm not asking everyone to do anything - just to sort of keep it in mind, from time to time, that some of us schmucks outside of N.E. are hoping to be "up" on the moment-to-moment action as much as possible. So just if people feel like it, go in with that in the back of your head and it'll be great, as usual. And speaking of "as usual..."

Pats1 ALWAYS does a phenomenal job of play-by-play - it was never, and would never, be a comment on the specificity and speed of his work. That guy is a Godsend.

Thanks.

I wonder how many of us regulars on this board live outside the local TV market? My sense is that it is a major fraction of the total. Anyway, first of all I want to say thanks so much to Pats1 and any other posters who are willing to do live play by play in the chat room.

I plan to be there and also to try sopcast tonight. This will be my first time - what kind of video experience is it? Tiny little window with blurry images, or pretty good?

Tiny little window with blurry images. TV resolution is 320x240 generally, the audio will sometimes lag, and you'll be about 30 seconds behind real time.

However, the more people we get on the sopcast stream the better it will be for everyone, as sopcast is a p2p multicast program. In the past Pats feeds have been rarely supported. Hopefully that will change this year.

Make sure you guys forward your ports in your router's firewall if you have one. Generally its the range between 3900-3920, both TCP and UDP. If you're using a software firewall like Zonealarm (or Windows Firewall) simply allowing sopcast.exe to access the internet should suffice.
