Just thought I would do the dishonor of opening up a ridiculous, yet inevitable thread that is bound to be posted by the end of the day. The thread will surely be started by someone who, lost in all of the excitement of a huge beast (well, more like a huge pig) being on the trading block, while the Pats are thin at defensive line.
The argument will run something like this:
-Most of the guaranteed money has already been paid on his contract, so he'll only be making 5-6M per year for the next two seasons
-We could change our entire defense to a 4-3 and have an absolute mashing machine in the middle with Wilfork and Haynesworth.
-The Patriots can turn around a disgruntled veteran like this, ala Corey Dillon and Randy Moss.
I'll even shoot down the arguments in advance, in anticipation of the later threads.

-Dude, just shut up.
-Haynesworth is the biggest trash in the NFL. This isn't the same Patriots' locker room, and Haynesworth could care less about winning.
-Washington's asking price is too high.
-He doesn't fit into our system, and he's whining about the 3-4 as it is. We'd have to restructure our entire defense for one huge problem child.

It would be a disaster to put a player in a 2gap system who will ignore his responsibilities and team objective to give himself a chance to make a big play.
Our defense is about discipline. Haynesworth is about doing what he wants and making the other 10 guys cover for him
The Patriots play in a 3-4. Haynesworth wants to play in a 4-3.
The Patriots play a 2-gap "passive" line. Haynesworth wants to 1-gap and get upfield.
It's just not a good match, despite Haynesworth's skills.

Assuming they can they turn around and trade him to TN for their first rounder in 2011.

So he has been a trouble maker because he is upset he is in a 3-4, two gap defense. And people want to trade for him so he can be a trouble maker again in a 3-4, two gap defense? Where is the logic in that?

Well with certain provisos and contract lettering to his agent to enforce, he is better than Wright and Gerald Warren, is he not? If you look at the Skins roster, he is starting RDE not NT.
A short leash and a chance to prove he is not an anal pore might work as we should be a little desperate. We wiffed on way too many decent FAs we could have gotten or reasonable trades. The F.O. created this problem.
I am not aware of him being a locker room cancer on any Team he has been on. It's management he irritates and Jeff Fisher could control him. Shanny can't but with Cutler and Marshall being a pain in the butt, maybe Shanny does not have that talent. Just thinking.
Yep, I take him with a clause that says one pout and he is gone.
We have our own idiot in Mankins. Maybe force the deal with Mankins and a Skins top choice (2nd?) for Haynesworth. I would have to take that deal. At least Haynesworth didn't call out Snyder. How is Mankins the better dude? You tell me? At least fat Al is in Camp.
If you are all happy with Wright and Gerald Warren as your starting DEs, good luck to us all.
