The New England secondary is by far the better unit, but I think the Dolphins have the best front 7 in football. (The Bears might be better, but that's another debate.) The Miami front line may be old, but they are beastly. And the linebackers, especially if we sign Porter, are among the league's best as well.
I think our front seven is much better than yours. Seymour Taylor are a wash and while Zach Thomas may be the best LBer of the Group our 6 remaining players are better than any one of your 5 remaining. while my opinion may be biased it isnt that far off.
(edited after) I don't care about my biased your front 7 isnt even close and if you get porter you might close the gap a bit but have a ways to go still.

I think the Patriots have the more complete front seven. The Patriots have Seymour, Wilfork, Warren, Bruschi, Vrabel, Colvin, and now Thomas. The Fins have Taylor and Z Thomas who are great but I don't think the rest quite measures up.

Not even close? I don't know about that considering the Dolphins finished 4th in total defense and the Pats finished 6th. Go ahead and say the Pats have the better defense, but to say it's not even close, that's quite a bit of homerizm don't you think?

Total defense is very overrated. It's scoring defense that is the most telling stat.
And I wouldn't say it's not even close. Any front seven that has Zach Thomas and Jason Taylor is going to be tough.

Gosh it sucks that you can't say your team is better at everything, so what do you do, make excuses. We finished better on D with almost no help from the O. How many games did your O make life easy for your D this year?? You're right total D is misleading, especially when you consider we finished ahead on you on D but 6 games back in total wins cause we simply couldn't move the ball.
You say your secondary is better but teams couldn't run on us, so they tried to throw and didn't fare much better.
Your secondary faced 518 passing plays Miami faced 497, we had several changes to our secondary losing Madison and Surtain within the last two seasons, but we still managed to field the 5th best secondary in the league while NE had 12th best secondary. Miami only gave up 187 yards a game though the air while NE gave up over 200 yards a game through the air. NE gave up 10 passing TD's and Miami' 22, hwoever most of Miam's were early on, the numbers decreased as the unit started to mesh.
Miami's run D was 8th best in the league while NE's was 5th best, however Miami faced over 73 more rushing plays then NE did. Miami gave up only 7 rushing TD's and NE 11. Miami was just over a 100 yards a game rushing and NE was at 94 a game.
Again considering we had next to no help from the O our numbers are much more impressive. it's hard to keep playing your ass off when you know the offense isn't helping, but the Dolphins D did that.

NE - Points against 237
Miami - Points against 283

I disagree because total yards is the yards your defense gives up while they are on the field. Total points allowed can come from turnovers resulting in TDs, (or that end up near the goal line that lead to points) kick and punt return for TDs and various other things that the defense has no control over. Sure points are the most important thing, but it's not always the defense's fault when points are allowed.
I can't argue with your last statement. Taylor and Thomas are 2 awesome football players and I hope they play till they're 60.
