Default $670 million in cap room? Who gets what?

I read that was the total available...just like in baseball, where mediocre players are getting huge dollars.....I thought it would be fun to throw out some guesses for outrageous contracts and then come back in about three weeks and see....

Nate Clement 5 years/$50 million $16 SB
Adelious Thomas 5 years/$40 milllion $12 M SB
Daniel Graham 6 years/$36 million $10 M SB
Jeff Gracia 3 years/$30 million $12 M SB

Assante Samuel 6 years/$60 million $18 SB (and we get a #1 for him)

Predictions?

I think you are out of your gourd if you think that Samuel is going to get a contract that pays him 10 million a year on average. Same with Clements. I think its absurd thinking to think that a LB who is almost 30 is going to get 8 million a year. And Graham isn't going to get 6 million a year.

The ONLY one that might be close is Garcia, because he is a QB.

Garcia seems too high as well. He wasn't bad during his stints in Detroit and Cleveland, but that Eagles offense has made bad QBs (A. J. Feeley, Koy Detmer) look good before, and he's old. I'm no capologist but 5-6 million I think is the ballpark figure.

I predict Meion Branch will hold out, claiming that if he had honored his contract and waited a year to be a FA, he would have gotten a better deal and therefore he is currently underpaid.

We'll see what the bidding wars bring, if in fact the bidding wars materialize.

With that much money available, and so few players free agents, the contracts are going through the roof! Put your predictions in as well.....We'll see by the first week of March.

the clement deal i can see happening.....he might get 6 years with asante off the market.
thomas i can also see happening, but the signing bonus is a bit too much.
graham no way, i say he gets 3, maybe 4 years at most.
garcia absolutley not, hes 38 he wont get anything more than 2 years at like 4mil at max
and asante will remain a patriot. teams would have to give up TWO first round picks, not just 1.

Asante, 10 million average? Thats a little too high. Sure Asante had a great season. But that is one great season out of a few decent ones and one where he was critisized pretty often. He would get payed a lot. But 10 million average after seeing just one season of greatness from him is wayyy to much.

They'll find out Randy can't run consistently anymore. He'll drive [Tom] Brady and [Bill] Belichick crazy. This is just my personal opinion from what I saw: He's losing his legs. He's becoming an old man fast.

There are going to be some contracts that are going to be head scratchers...The other thing is that with all of this new monet out there it may force the owners to re-open the CBA (which they have aright to)...Its going to get interesting between the not so mega millionaires and the mega millionaires.....

I agree that's high. The Pats could franchise him for 3 years and might not be at $10 million per season.

But if you think that's high, howabout Graham at $6 mil per - making him far and away the highest paid TE in the game... at a time when other teams who value blocking TEs are putting Offensive Linemen in at that position.

Of course I understand the premise of the thread - just how overpaid will these guys be. I suppose nothing would surprise me.
