I think he misses one point, is that its not just BB alone. His entire staff as well as his players have been trained to handle "situational football". That is the crux and it took the guy to get 3/4's through his article to get to the key element. The Pats take more time than most to run through all the situations they MAY see in the course of the game.

Kudos to the guy for at least seeing through the smoke and mirrors and UNDERSTANDING that what BB teaches so well ISN'T the complex and obsure, but the FUNDEMENTALS - and that is as simple as getting in and out of huddles quickly, subsitituting sub groups at the right time, getting the play in time to make adjustments, etc

I think it's an excellent piece.

Hopefully, the rest of the world will never figure out BB's success and ber able to duplicate it.

He's to football coaching what Tiger Woods is to golf...prepared his entire life, from early childhood on, to do this, and nothing else.

One constant and to all appearances a key element of the team's success is Dean Pees. That was a masterful OL performance.

Good find!

"We practice them," linebacker Mike Vrabel said. "It's not just enough to know the situation, you've got to make a play and then you've got to go, 'Well, what do I do now? Do I call timeout? Does Bill call timeout?' A lot of our practices are geared towards situational football."

That puts one in mind of Matt Chatham, after downing the SB streaker.
"I play for Bill Belichick. We practised for that this week."
