As a part of the official record of that Draft,The Patriots are noted as having taken Ron Mix-T-USC as pick # 1 in round 0 and Jim Otto-C-Miami was taken by the Raiders, also in round 0.
This is an official part of the NFL draft and Patriots and Raiders were the only AFL teams to be involved.
Also,Ron Burton was drafted #9 in the 1st round by the Eagles and Gerhard Schwedes was drafted #11 in the 4th round by the Colts.
I don't know how the Pats and Colts snuck into this draft, but it is part of the official records for that year.

Just happened to see an article the other day and re-checked.
Slightly before my time, I believe 61 would be the first season I really remember and only from the paper? maybe radio? I was 7 years old, anyway.
I've been trying to stay out of the poo flinging wars on the forum, but I would love to get some info on Billy Sullivan, the sports reporters and anyone who was trying to get a team into Boston.
I know NEM goes that far back and I'm assuming you do.
Billy Sullivan was trying to get the Chicago Cardinals to move here, I understand.
I'm Irish and the idea of the crazy Irishman with a dream and no money just tickles me.
I'm sure ItalianPat would love to read anything about the original Pats as he loves the tradition.
