What was the preparation for this game?

With the first two games, joint practices gave the normal season preparation feel. I didn't see any "preparing for the Rams" articles.

This sounds like a team totally unprepared to play.

BB was pissed during the game, pissed at his halftime interview and pissed afterwards. I'm somewhat of an authority on this. In any case, it reminds me of the 2004 Pats who got completely destroyed pre-season by a bottom of the league Bengals squad. I'm NOT saying this year's squad is anything like that year's in terms of player quality but just that BB will use this total debacle to improve those areas that can be addressed by more focused coaching. I'd hate to be a Patriot this next week.

BB is fine. I don't agree with a few things, but there is nobody else I would rather have. Don't want herm Edwards or Jim mora pressers. Don't want it to become a coaching revolving door. BUT CAN WE GET A PASS RUSH ALREADY?

Thouse guys could make revis look bad

Why should a coach give anything more than he required too. He is under no responsibility to release any extra info or answer any questions. He answer to one person only and that is Bob Kraft. He is the only one who can ask questions and deserve answers.

Summary today by the Herald's Rapoport:

What most people miss is that he simply does NOT know the reasons right after the game. He's not lying when he repeatedly says "we just got off the field". He wouldn't need to put in as much work as he does if he could instantly tell you exactly why everything happened during a game. He has to go study the films to figure out exactly what happened. Most coaches will just spout of bs to try to reason on the spot, but that's more human emotion than actual football analysis.

Obviously he's not happy after a game like that but some (most?) of the questions he gets asked are a little ridiculous. "Does this change your plan for week four at all?" Really, do you honestly believe he's thinking about the week 4 plan during the game or directly after? He's not a robot from the future :P

I don't understand the "dick" statement. Charisma by-pass - check, surly - check, does not suffer fools gladly - check, not an entertainer - check

But I do agree that he is not there to serve 3 courses to the media. He is the epitome of succinctness and the master of brevity. And if you look just a little deeper he even manages a touch of humor (viz the response to the Maroney question).

Outside of the ESPN cameras and mikes he is a humble and caring person

Belichick and Brown bonded during Belichick's tenure in Cleveland, and over the years Belichick has supported Brown's Amer-I-Can Foundation, which aims to help former gang members, ex-convicts and others disenfranchised from society develop skills and strategies for productive lives. Belichick has even been in Brown's home, talking to former gang members — a far cry from the popular image of the cold coach, and yes, something he's prone to do while on vacation.

Brown told me that Belichick has helped his foundation land contracts in New England, and has donated significant money to the cause. One year, Belichick donated all of the money from the Patriots' fines for the season to Brown's foundation.

Above all Belichick is a thinker and a man of substance - Dick? Never

Were you actually expecting something informative from BB? He has always played his cards close to the vest. And this was no exception. On top of that he was pissed after the loss and was not interested in saying anything except for the obvious. The Pats didn't play well or execute well, that's why they lost and they need to correct those mistakes. I'm sure this was also a message for the team -- I'm not happy with you so get ready to work like dogs this upcoming week and get things done right for week 4 of the preseason.

Think for a minute and you'll realize that BB is simply practising being wicked pissed for the regular season when the team loses a game because of pathetic effort. That Belichick, always working the pre-season to the max. Heh.
