More likely than not, the trainers will give him salt pills to hold fluids and keep an extra eye on him for overheating and dehydration.

If I were Chilly while embracing him I would slip him a pen and have him sign a waiver...lest he or his heirs decide one day to sue the Vikings for letting him participate under the circumstances...

It's totally reasonable, IMO. Not taking fluids during hot-weather practice is potentially dangerous, and the player should be prepared to accept all of the risks involved.
