Lightbulb Welker Gets Inspired By Wounded Veteran

Ian's Daily Blog - Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker met with an Army veteran yesterday, and the meeting provided quite a bit of perspective for New England's star receiver.

Best FA signing in Belichick's career on pretty much every level. The NFL would be a far better league if there were more Welker's than not...

As a current military member (Army), it inspires me to know that there are players like Welker in the NFL. As for respect, hoping that Welker didn't play last season was a level of respect eminated throughout Jets message boards. The guy is really good :-)

Semantics, I know, but technically it was a trade.

I do it every time... I think because I was on the sign that RFA bandwagon early on. I'd have given up a first had the Dolphins not been stupid.

“Society has it completely wrong by making athletes heroes,” Welker told the newspaper. “Mike Downing is the real patriot. When I heard his story, I wanted to meet him.”

Damn the Pats are lucky to have this guy. Where are you Patjew? Sign me up to run through that wall for Welker.
