Maybe you need to listen to it again and figure out how to make out context of what's being said. It's pretty clear as day.

Well, he has a reputation to protect and, let's face it, Brady's contract negotiation is the biggest off-field story on his beat since Spy Gate. He can't afford to get it badly wrong at a critical time.
I took away from the clip that he genuinely doesn't think he knows (the only thing he presents as his own "reporting" is at the beginning when he says he heard in "the last day" that, though they started talking last year, they weren't doing much talking right now and that he didn't expect anything to happen in the next week or so). The rest is what he "thinks" is going on or his "opinion" about what is going on, based on what he has heard.
My bottom line is that I'm going to go with Reiss' instincts on this. If he doesn't think things are at a critical point or that Brady is going to hold out, then I'm down with that.

I know this will get me an infraction but enough is enough.
Try reading the thread instead of going knee-jerk. I didn't hijack anything.

I listened to it multiple times. I put the quotes right here in the thread. I didn't twist anything.

I understand journalism just fine. You're complaining about something that was fine. When you grow up enough to learn that a reporter/journalist doesn't have to write EXACTLY what you want him to, you'll have begun walking the path to grasping how media, and the world in general, works.
By they way, JMT's version would fail your test. After all, from elsewhere in the Silver article:
But that doesn't count, of course, right?
You're crazy man.
What Silver did is CLEARLY a big no, no in journalism. You can take parts of the SAME QOUTE from Kraft and run with a story that Brady will be a happy Patriot for the rest of his career. Not sure how you are having such a hard time comprehending such a simple thing here.

I am the opposite feeling about this, I applaud him for being on the fence.
He doesn't want his words misconstrued, he doesn't want to report a rumor only to have it turn out to be false, he doesn't want to take a stand only to have to defend it against others trying to knock him down for being wrong- sitting on the fence reporting what little facts there are out there that can be verified by reliable sources is best, not idle speculation.
