I picked Lindy's NFL preview magazine last night. Just something football to read and I like their draft guide. I'm sure there are others out or coming out soon. I pick up 2 or 3 each year.
They do have a Baltimore- Dallas SB. The Jest are picked to win the AFCE with the Patriots and Houston as the Wild Card playoff teams.
I can understand the Baltimore prediction. I'm still not getting the media love for the Jest. They were a 7-7 team and about to be a 7-8 team and out of the playoffs, until Polian went wimpy and pulled the plug.

Had he not done so, the wuss, the Colts could have posted the vaunted beloved by many here 16-0 banner in their stadium too as they became the 2nd 18-1 team in the NFL.

You know, I understood the 16-0 banner IF it was meant to be a motivational tool back in 08. But once Brady went down, the whole dynamic of the team changed and it became a gutwrenching reminder of what should have been.
That banner to me epitomized what we had become, instead of the lunchpail veteran led, tough, opportunistic, 60 minute hardball, team first winners of 3 SBs, we had become the Colts. Statistics Uber Alles.

It's a legitimate achievement. Two teams make the AFCCG every year. 16-0 had never been done before.

Well said, Deus.
People tend to forget that championships are not a given, regardless of the regular season records. The Pats made a decision to chase history by not shutting down to rest at the end of the season and came up short in the end. Fans may forget the constant media pressure every week chasing perfection, but that is exhausting in and of itself.
There is nothing to suggest the Pats would have won had they decided to pull a Colts and run pre-season rosters for the final two or three games of the regular season to rest starters. If the Pats somehow embraced the Colts' philosophy, then they wouldn't have attempted that feat at all. The Giants played their crown jewel of the past 24 years and won. The Pats did the same to the Rams in 2001. That isn't called choking, it's called football.
Baltimore/Dallas seems like a reasonable Super Bowl pick.
I have the Pats winning the division and the Jets missing the playoffs entirely. This Jets team reminds me of the 2000 Redskins. Too many overpaid, aging vets while the young nucleus is ignored. Doesn't bode well. Also, the Jets have traded away so many draft picks in the past 4 years that their team is devoid of depth. They have an elite roster from 1-30 but 31-53 are JAGs. It only takes a couple of injuries on a team like this for the whole thing to fall apart.
My picks: Patriots, Ravens, Colts and Chargers win their divisions. Dolphins and Chiefs take the wild card (no, that was not a typo).

This reminds me of Real Madrid, they spent ****** loads of money on players, this meant they had flare and skill, and won numerous trophies.
During this time, Barcelona were criticized to not spend the money that RM had done. After a few seasons, it turned out that while RM were winning all their trophies with flare, Barca were slowly developing young players through their youth ranks and buying at a young age. RM soon started to lose their flare, and Barcelona came through as the best team in La Liga (and in Europe?).
Last summer, Real Madrid did the same again, paying £70million+ for Ronaldo and £50million+ for Kaka. And who won the league last season? Barcelona

The Jets are going to be a hot pick this year from the media. They went to the AFC Championship game. They made a lot of high risk, high reward type of moves that the media loves. People will forget that they backed into the playoffs.
The Jets have the potential to be a top team, but they also have the potential to flame out big time. They could be anywhere from a 6 win to a 12 win team in my opinion. Personally, I think they will end up somewhere in the middle from 8-10 wins, but I can see why they are a trendy pick.
I have no problem with these preseason pubs picking the Jets to win the division. I expect a lot of them and the media will pick them. It doesn't mean crap. These preseason pubs are never right about every team who wins the division. Many trendy picks in these publications end up under 6 wins.
