It's equally possible that he lost interest in the game this year because his role on the defense wasn't perfectly suited for his aptitudes as a football player. Remember now that I'm one of the many on here who wanted AD gone after the 2009 season. I didn't it done over his mouth, but over his production (or lack thereof). You seem to truly believe that his production dropped off 100% because his skills dropped off with age. That could be the case but it could also be due to a multitude of reasons. This season will be the judge.
I can't possibly be 100% certain the reason.
I do know that the headcase problems came AFTER BB stripped him of pass rushing duties, so I cant understand how the poor pass rushing can be because of the attitude that resulted from the consequences of the poor pass rushing.
What I do know is that I watched him rush the passer. I TIVO while I watch and rewatch, pausing, going forward and back to see the good/bad and cause on each play, so I watch every rush at least a few times. He was terrible. There is no other way to describe it.
I don't really care whether its because his skills deteriorated or he lost his heart, the result in the end is the same.
The one thing I do know is the bs that he was in a funk because of the way he was used doesnt explain this because he wasn't unhappy with his use until after he was 'benched' as a pass rusher.

The problem wasn't that they didn't use Thomas at multiple positions (they did use him at ILB his first year here). It was that he wasn't producing in his primary role to allow them to move him around. I seriously doubt that if the Pats moved Thomas around, that he would have been significantly more effective.

I do also think the success of his first year has made Ryan's ego spin out of control a bit. He is even more pompous than last year. He might want to temper the rhetoric until he is sure that the playoff run last year wasn't a fluke and he didn't dismantle his running game too much this offseason.
Nah, he's fine, when things go wrong he will cry. That should work twice, right?

Neither of the above, but those are just friggin ridiculous-looking. He could have cut em down just a little bit longer. But that's BB--always the big
