Default Another article from Reiss

A few tidbits, noticeable is that the TE coach is Brian Ferentz, son of the Iowa coach, Nick Ferentz, and a good friend of BB...

Info on the Jets as well.

New England Patriots Blog - ESPN Boston

Quote:
The Patriots have yet to officially name a tight ends coach, but all signs point to Ferentz -- a coaching assistant with the team in 2009 -- as the coach who will work closest with young, promising prospects Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez

The Patriots selected 12 players in the draft for the second straight year. The Jets have selected seven players over the last two years.

Default Brian Ferentz

Reiss says Brian Ferentz is the obvious de facto TEs coach.

New England Patriots Blog - ESPN Boston

If you haven't heard of him before, you get three guesses as to who his father is, and the first two don't count.

Brian Ferentz - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It seems he played OL for his Dad in college, and then had a cup of coffee in training camp/PS duty before washing out of the league as a player.

He's got tremendous name value. Hopefully he can help fine tune Gronk's route running.

Sorry. I didn't see this and started another thread.

A merge is in order.

A young coach whose father was/is a renowned coach, and who was a bit-part football player before heading into coaching.

Remind anyone of a certain person?

I like.

I'll be chatting with Coach Ferentz (Kirk) next Wednesday. It will be nice to have something Patriot related to talk with him about. The Ferentz's are great people.

Somebody else read Education of a Coach?

Young Ferentz actually had a much more distinguished playing career than young Belichick. Even so, the comparison is apt.

It's a fantastic book. Would recommend it to anyone, especially those looking to learn more about Bill Belichick.

And Fencer - I just checked his Iowa biography. You'll never guess which OL position he played
