Default Cowardly Broncos?

Looks like the Broncos pulled an "Elway" and asked not to be in the opener so they wouldn't rack up too many frequent flyer miles in one week:

"Denver asked to be removed from consideration to open the season at Pittsburgh on Thursday, Sept. 7. Miami will play that game instead. The Broncos play their final preseason game at Arizona the weekend before and didn't want to travel twice within a matter of a few days."

http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_3645878

Why wouldn't Denver just simply ask to have the preseason game (which is NOT official yet) to be switched or be played on a Thursday (which is common for the last week of preseason)?

Glad to get an "amen" 726. Fear leads to failure, I mean we opted to not play the Steelers in the playoffs and look how all that turned out!

I'm glad to see Miami on the road in that first game against the Steelers. Hopefully Pittsburgh will beat them.

I'm not worried. While Culpepper is an upgrade from last year, I don't think he's a top tier quarterback. And if he's not ready to go, I hope they sign Maddox. That would be sweet . Seeing Troy, Joey, and the guys chase/sack him all night would be justification for the crappy games he's played for us the past two years. I guess I can't be too mad at him though. Because of horrific 6-10 season, it allowed us to draft Big Ben.

The NFL has become all about hype, self-promotion and global domination now, it's ridiculous. Of course they'll have Miami in the opener to remind everybody that the SB is being played in ....Miami! Like last year they showed TAPED Rolling Stones footage from a concert in Detroit to remind everybody that SBXL was in ...Detroit! Jessica Simpson in Jax the year before, you get the idea.

The most shameless gig was that season-opening concert last year in LA (of all places), so the NFL could show how much it wanted a franchise there. Just too obvious and ultimately pointless.

Next few years we'll be playing games in England and China on Tuesday mornings at 4am so the NFL can "expand its market". Upset about those late season Thursday night games on the NFL network? That is just the beginning...

With the huge money flowing in from braodcast rights...it's hard to complain about the games that will be shown...also, one would think some teams would step up to be on TV more.
