Default To go or not to go with a 2 quarterback roster again in 2010?

Its time for the after seasons over annual look at the quarterback position

Are you satisfied with just having 2 QBs on the roster for next season and having Hoyle be the guy if Brady has an injury? or do you want the team to pick up a veteran like Pennington or Croyle ect: or maybe a late draft pick?.

I think this team has too many holes on both offense and defense to fill with young talent to waste a spot on a late round pick on a QB..Tebow has been mentioned but at this point is not expected to be high on teams lists looking for a starting QB and may not even be drafted to be a QB.

So its likely either a cheap FA retread to back up Brady and Hoyle or we keep just 2 on the roster.

Its comes down to how much confidence do you have in Hoyle should an emergency occur?.

What do you think?

I'm for it. The risks are there, but any street-guy we'd have as #3 we could grab mid-season, imo.

I think it worked out ok and I would have been able to watch without covering my eyes if Hoyer had needed to come in.

The question will be if we use the roster space wisely. Maybe a TE who could play QB in a pinch?

If we went with a rookie QB as the sole backup I see no reason we would suddenly want a better backup for that same QB with a year's experience.

I'm sure they'll bring in a few QBs (through regular FA or maybe an undrafted or 7th rounder) because you'll need a rotation to get through preseason. From that, you make a choice based on other needs and player performance to either keep three, or keep two and have the others on a "shadow roster" for emergencies.

We have the same chance of winning the superbowl with our thrid QB if he is a vet journyman, rookie drafted in the third round or if we use Wilfork as the QB after Brady and backup goes down -- zilch. So might as well use that roster spot on someone that will actually help get us to the superbowl.

ya two QB's is good. they need the roster spot for LB or D line dept. and any ways if the QB under center is not brady. the pats wont make the playoffs.

I like having 2QB on a roster. I don't see a need to carry 3, if you ever need your 3rd quarterback to run the offense in a game chances are you aren't going to win. It's more reps for Hoyle in practice, more 1 on 1 time with Brady to help him develop, and leaves you another roster spot to round out the defense/offense/special teams.

I wonder how Stanback would be as an emergency QB?

I can't envision him making this years team unless he shows something unique in camp.

I'm fine with the 2QB being Brady and Hoyer with the emergency being Stanback or Edelman.

I want some Edelman wildcat plays next year BTW.

Did they try that this year? I remember he botched the snap and we never saw it again
