This is waaaaay off topic, but while we condemn the Globe, I thought it's only appropriate to praise it when greatness rears its head in its pages.

Today, I was scanning boston.com and noticed an article in the side bar that was among the top "most e-mailed" articles 3 days in a row - that almost never happens 3 days in a row, so I thought I'd click on it.

This Beverly Beckham can WRITE. Anyone here who is a father will probably be as moved as I was in reading this. What is impressive is that it took a woman to write what might be the quintessential short essay on the meaning of a father-son relationship.
