You know, I never understood why us as Pats fans have disdain for the Steelers. I admit, thier fans are sometimes boarish, and I know we have won 2 of our last 3 AFC Championships in thier house, but honestly, if the Pats didn't exist, I wouldn't mind cheering for the Steelers. They seem like a hard nosed team like ourselves, with likeable players like Ward, Big Ben, Parker and Polamalu.

I built up some animosity towards the Steelers last year when they had that big streak going.... In any case, I agree with you. There are some bad things about the Steelers (questionable tackling, ****ty fans) but overall they aren't so bad. Much much better than Manning and his merry band of crybabies.

is it animosity or trash-talking?
i really like the steelers, have since the days of Eugene "Big Daddy" Lipscomb.
i like this bunch too, except for some feelings agout Roethlisberger. they must have someone else playing in his uniform, maybe roman gabriel. this team plays with heart, swagger, and some meanness. and some of the players are likeable.
i feel bad for steelers fans tho---will cowher ever learn how to manage a close game in the last 2 minutes?

Bringing up Lipscomb reminds me of one of the best quotes I've heard in the NFL.

Hugh McIlhenny, a RB for the 49ers was playing against Lipscomb one game. After a tackle on him Lipscomb told McIlhenny, "If you keep coming this way Big Daddy's gonna bite your head off."

McIlhenny responded "If you do you'll have more brains in your stomach than you ever had in your head."

Add me to the list of Pats fans who support the Steelers if we can't win it. I can't stand that crybaby Manning and I hope that should the Steelers win, they go into Denver and drive a stake in the heart of that ***** Shanahan. I've met Dungy (Good guy), I've met Mike Holmgren (big son of a gun) and I swear if I had the chance to meet shanahan I'd tell him to stick it up his ass. I cannot understand why the NFL schedule makers make us go out there almost every year and rarely bring them to Foxboro.

I actually do like the Steelers, when they're not facing the Pats. Bettis and Ward especially are hard-working guys who love the game and play it well. I have nothing but respect for them.

What I want to happen is:

Steelers win today
Broncos win next week
NFC Champ wins SB.
