Re: Will AFC East Buy or Sell at tuesday's trade deadline?
I don't think the Pats will make a move but I agree w/Lombardi's assesment from the other day: Tavern talk: A win for Vikki Zimmer | National Football Post

1. The longer I watch the Patriots on offense, the more apparent it becomes they need a back. To run the spread, you must have a back who can make tough yards and yards after contact. Right now, they don’t have a back with that kind of consistent skill, which makes their offense struggle.

Steven Jackson would certainly look good in a Pats uniform and fit this offense perfectly but with 5 yrs remaining on a 6-yr $44.805 mil deal he signed in August 2008 I don't think it's likely at all. It would be nice though.
Florio touched on this very topic in his 10-pack of trades that should happen today:

2. Rams should trade Steven Jackson.
Steven Jackson, at 26 years old and in his sixth NFL season, is in the throes of pro football middle age. Given his hard-nosed running style, he's only got a few more years left before the L.T.-style decline begins.
Rams should get what they can for Steven Jackson. With the Rams more than a few years away from contending, Jackson will be used up before they're ready to make a move up the standings.
So why not get what they can now for Jackson?
Though most contenders have guys who can move the chains, the Packers could really use him. With Fred Taylor possibly out for the year in New England, Jackson would look good in silver and blue, too.
