PASS YDS 174.0 (7th)
RUSH YDS 88.3 (10th)
Over the course of an entire season it's going to be interesting to see how both teams progress on O and D. The Patriots defense isn't as bad as most thought.

Take away the Brady INT for a TD and it is 14.3 PPG vs. 11.0. However, those stats don't tell the full story. For example, what is the Jets vs. Pats opposing QB rating? How many turnovers has each defense caused? The Jets defense has been much more disruptive, holding Matt Schaub to a 54.5% completion rate with a 55.9 QB rating and 0 TDs/1 INT; Tom Brady to a 49% completion rate with a 53.1 QB rating and 0 TDs and 1 INT; and Kerry Collins to a 40.5% completion rate with a QB rating of 41.5 with 1TD/2 INTs. In contrast, the Pats have allowed QB ratings of 114.1, 101.1 and 82.3, haven't had an INT, and haven't allowed an opposing QB to complete less than 60% of his passes.
The Pats defense is quite good, as you point out, and very underrated. I'm confident that with time it will become very good this season. But it has not been dominant the way the Jets' defense has, no matter how close the stats are. And I'm as big a homer as anyone.
