Default Kerry Rhodes: "We want to embarass the Patriots"(Merged)

I guess Rhodes doesn't think talk is cheap:

Rhodes wants to embarrass Patriots - Extra Points - Boston.com

Quote:
“Any quarterback can be rattled,” Rhodes said. ‘He’s one of the best, don’t get me wrong. That’s evident. Any quarterback, Peyton Manning, even if you get in his face, if you rattle the quarterback, you get pressure on the quarterback, any quarterback it is, he’s not going to be the same. Nobody. That’s not to say he’s not going to come back and make a play after.”
These guys are really asking for it. It's kind of pathetic b/c its based purely on timing (Brady coming off an injury, Mayo being injured), but the Jets clearly think we're ripe for the taking this week.

In a way, you have to thank the Jets for this. They've taken all the pressure on this game and shifted it upon themselves. If they lose, and if they lose big, it will be the kind of loss that briefly derails seasons and will affect them in ensuing weeks (ie, their pathetic loss to SD after we beat them in Week 2 when they were also getting hyped for the game against us).

The amusing part of all this to me is this is a game the Jets are supposed to win. If they're competing for the division, this is THEIR HOME GAME. I understand that recently we've done better there and vice versa but HF does matter and if the Jets win this week, they've simply held serve. Not won the home and home, not won the division and certainly not won the Super Bowl.

Pats are a 4pt favorite on the road. If the Jets win it would be an upset.

It is Tom Brady vs a 22yr old rookie.

I am a Jets fan, and I would lay the points

It's still a game the Jets are supposed to win if they think they are viable contenders to win the division. Point spread be damned.

What Rhodes need to think about is the Pats would want to send a message to NY too after all this bull***** talk. The messege of pipe down and learn your place, NE is the best team in the East this season.

Theres a method behind Ryan's madness and thats take the pressure off the team and direct it onto himself, but when the players start yapping they set themselves up and (safties in particular) tend to get burned against the Patriots.

Sundays's going to be funky.

Agreed. The Jets pounding their chests displaying their apparent confidence, in a way, truly undermines their confidence.

Wow that is some major smack talking. Has anyone asked the question as to what happens to the Jets and their ego's along with confidence if they lose this game?

Seems to me they are putting their entire season on this game as this is suppose to be their spring board onto bigger things like a division title.

It's going to be important for the Patriots to score first and score early to deflate them and take away a lot of that energy. Also that puts the pressure on the rookie QB to force things trying to make a big play. This is going to be pretty interesting but the Patriots MUST match their intensity early.

Couldn't agree more! It's like they are bringing all their ammo to a week 2 game. Unreal.

What's the upside for the Jets? If they win, they did something they claim they were supposed to do. If they lose, they look like *******s. Honestly, they should've kept their mouths shut.

Well this is so typical every year we hear this kind of talk and almost every year they go down in flames....They just rationalize it.
