Seems kind of harsh...what was the suspension for Leonard Little when he had a DUI manslaughter.

I don't want to understate the severity of the crime but thats for the courts...the NFL should be consistant with its suspensions.

Little got an 8 game suspension. But Goodell has made clear that he intends to be harsher than Tags was.

Stallworth lost the third string job to Gaffney by the end of the 2007 season. I think he was a disapointment here. I doubt he would be back especially three years later and missing a season of football. There will be better options next year without as much baggage.

I would have rather seen it turned around and him spend a year in jail and 24 days suspension from the league - It fits the crime better :banned:

The SI piece (link below) mentions that he received a $4.5 million roster-signing bonus the night before the fatal incident. The salary he is forfeiting is given as $745,000.

Two questions for those who know these things better than I do: one, does he get to keep the bonus? two, if he does keep the bonus does it still count against the Browns' cap for the season? If it does count against the cap, he's passing his punishment on to his team and teammates, who now have to play without him and with a big cap hit that is returning nothing on the field.

One thing that people are forgetting when they complain about Stallworth getting off lightly, is that the victim in this case was partially responsible for his own demise. He illegally ran out into traffic trying to catch a bus. Sure Stallworth was drinking and deserves punishment, but the guy ran into traffic where he should not have been. Sad case for all involved. I think Goodell is being very heavy handed in his punishment. Little got 8 games and if that's the precedent, it should be consistent.

That was over 10 years ago, and Goodell has made it very very clear that he intends to be harsher than his predecessor. Goodell's setting his own precedent, and you can't say he didn't warn players.
