I didn't see this mentioned anywhere, and it was my favorite part of BB's interview on Sirius today. I believe PK asked BB to talk about Chung and what position he thinks he'll play (corner or safety, flexibility etc..). BB said definitely safety, maybe the inside corner, and most definitely not on the outside.
But then he went on about how vocal Chung is and how he is really stepping up as a vocal leader and taking command in the secondary. BB stated how rare that is in a player and even more rare in a young player. He said it is much like Mayo did last year, willing to step up and take control.
That last part put a huge smile on my face. It only reenforced my belief that Chung will be a huge part of this secondary from early on, if not opening day.
Just thought I would pass that along, sorry for the lack of exact quotes. I was listening to it as I drove home from my first fantasy draft of the year.

That would be amazing, to get 2 young guys in successive years with that kind of defensive leadership ability. I hope he is studying the playbook the way Mayo did as well - that was one of the things which stood out about last year's rookie class. Butler, Chung and Meriweather have the opportunity to develop into an amazing secondary nucleus.

Not to get ahead of myself or anything...although it was BB talking him up. But if Chung is that kind of guy, then we have our answer for who is going to replace the leadership of Bruschi AND Rodney.
For that I am stoked!!!

I'm sure he is studying that playbook hard. When you look at Chung, his athleticism and hitting ability jumps off the page at you. But, the one thing that jumped off the page at BB around the day of the draft was how smart Chung is. He is an ideal fit for this defense.

Re: Belichick puts Chung in the same breath as Mayo!!
While I'm stoked that Chung is looking promising, it's too bad he couldn't play a year with Rodney to see how a real leader leads. There's nothing like learning from someone with that kind of experience at safety. Right now there's no one with that kind of experience on the squad.
Re: Belichick puts Chung in the same breath as Mayo!!
It would be awesome to see Chung contribute early. The secondary definitely needs an enforcer, and Chung was one of those guys in the draft who looked like he could fit the bill.
