Default Farley: Maroney looks to shoulder the load

Maroney looks to shoulder the load - Milford, MA - The Milford Daily News
Quote:
Blue-collar fullback Heath Evans' decision to move on to New Orleans as a free agent has left the team with a hole at the fullback position in a true sign of pro football's changing times.

No fullback? No worries.

Look for the Patriots to utilize 305-pound offensive lineman Russ Hochstein and their tight ends in that role when the situation calls for it.

The beauty of this Pats team is that Maroney doesn't have to shoulder anything. In fact, the Pats have 4 backs that are capable of getting the job done. This year's ground game is going to be one of the best in the NFL.

I'm inclined to think so, in fact I'd lean towards using Maroney on KR duty again and keeping the load spread amongst the RBs to keep fresh legs for the playoffs.

I'm probably going to be in the minority on this, but I want Maroney to get the opportunity to shoulder a complete "#1 running back" workload. The team needs to give him a full season, complete with pass catching and blocking responsibilities. If not, why did they bother using a first round pick on the guy?

*Caution, anti-play calling alert!*

While they are at it, they need to use the guy in enough different ways that the opposing teams can't just load up on the poor bastard.

Maroney is da*n good boys, this year he will definitely surprise you haters, ill tell u who needs to step up most...the entire offensive line, including mankins! not one of them is consistent..jonathon wilhite=brutal!!! gary guyton is already way better than bruschi and mike wright was atrocious playing the 0 or 1 technique on running downs...he fits as a 3 technique better imo for pass rush downs...also levoir or sebastian need to start for kaczur immediately, i dont know y anyone even says hes decent...

Soon after the season stars it will be obvious that Maroney IS the #1 runningback.

I have a feeling that most of you people that are talking crap about Maroney are the same people that said Cassel should have been cut last preseason. No ability to see beyond the tip of your nose.
