I might add that Favre's horrendous play in the playoffs this decade also contributed to the ultimate divorce.

Since his retirement from the Jets, Favre admitted in interviews that at least part of his motivation to return was out of vengeance against Thompson, whom Favre thought was the sole person standing in the way of him returning to the Packers.

"Part of me coming back last year, I have to admit now, was sticking it to Ted," Favre told SI.com in February.

A Jets executive said at the Senior Bowl in January that Favre's feelings toward Thompson were well known around the organization.

"Boy, does Favre have it bad out bad for Thompson," the source said then. "He talked about the Packers all the time. He's obsessed with them. I don't know if he's ever going to let it go."

Said a Jets teammate: "It's not over between him and the Packers. I know a lot of it started from the people around him. But he's bought into it."

Pretty much. The Moss thing contributed to the tension but wasn't the only factor.

And I can understand Favre wanting Mariucci - he got a raw deal in Detroit. Matt Millen fired him for not making the Lions a playoff team with Joey Harrington at QB. That's like giving a chef a pound of hamburger and saying, "Here, make me a steak out of this."

But overall, the ol' hillbilly just proved himself to be a whiny bee-yatch. A friend of mine swears that Thompson wanted Favre out as soon as he took over at GM; but can you blame him? Here was a guy whose best years were behind him but still expected to be treated like it was 1996, and he was dragging the club with him every year through the "Should I retire or keep going?" drama. Yeah, he won a Super Bowl, but so have Trent Dilfer and Jeff Hostetler. It's one thing for a head coach to piss and moan and leave town when he can't have more say in personnel decisions, but a player? Please.

If he is just coming back to stick it to Ted Thompson, I have lost all respect for the guy. He really stuck it to Thompson last year. I am sure Thompson is kicking himself for letting Favre go for a third round pick and Aaron Rodgers outplaying him last year and is starting to prove he is a QB you can build your team around. There is no better way to get back at a guy than to prove that he made the right decision.

Actually, Thompson stuck it to the Jets more than Favre has stuck it to Thompson since Thompson traded away the pick the Packers got for Favre to the Patriots. So in a round about way, the Jets and Favre helped the Patriots get better.

how much can favre expect the packers to do? they waited on him for a couple of seasons, that is more than most players would get. favre is just a big baby, if he does not get what he wants he will cry and leave. favre used to be one of my fav players now i just wish he would go away forever
