I wish I could enjoy being a Boston fan as well. I am a die hard New England Patriots Fan living here in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. I just don't agree with the Celtics, grew up hating them, I am a die hard Laker fan, and grew up a die hard Dodger fan. I do have respect for the Red Sox, they have an awesome team. LA sucks in that we have NO football team, so Boston is one lucky city in that they have all four sports. GO PATS!

I've grown up in Northern California my whole life, and probably would've ended up a dreadful Raider's fan if it wasn't for my mother marrying a Bostonian lol. Thanks to him my whole childhood I grew up loving Bird, McHale, The Chief. I had the joy of watching a New England Patriots team that at times was an underdog overachiever or just plain bad. Going to A's games and yelling some smack talk at Canseco as the Bosox would take out Oakland.

For all of you guys who live back east and actually get to really absorb the teams you love, I tip my glass to you. You're one group of lucky bastards. :P

You watched McHale, Parish and Bird without becoming a lifelong Celts fan? Damn.

I dont want to derail the OP, but Im a Celtics fan. Not to the extreme that I am a Patriots fan. I can say though that as a kid, when Reggie Lewis passed away, I stopped watching basketball for awhile and Ive just never been able to get into it like I can football.

The Bruins and the Patriots are the only teams I care about. Needless to say, the Bruins' current state has me ecstatic considering the lack of playoffs for the Patriots this season.

Then again, Boston sports fans tend to be massive front-runners. Few people cared about the Patriots until they started winning, and the Bruins used to draw half-capacity crowds until this year when they got good (though they were the most popular team in the city in the 70s).
