1. Matt Cassel, New England, 26; 6-4, 222 pounds; 5.05; 2005; 7th round (230th overall); David Dunn — Will be the top prize of any team seeking a young, up-and-coming quarterback. Will restore the credibility of a franchise. Any team signing him might have to consider trading down out of the top five. It will be very expensive to sign Cassel and may also cost a high draft choice. Once the tag comes on him, all bets are off. His value is a first round pick above 15 along with a second rounder.
(A) Above 15 = higher than 15.
(B) 5.05? Really? What does it say that O'Connell ran a 4.6?

Jets quarterback Brett Favre won't return for a 19th season because he'll cost the team too much, former quarterback Boomer Esiason said.
"They're not going to pay a 40-year-old quarterback $13 million," Esiason, an analyst for CBS Sports, said in an interview with Bloomberg Radio's "On the Ball" program. "They're going to take that $13 million and probably go investigate whether they can get Matt Cassel."
Maybe that's why he signed the tender?

i like lombardi but cassel for 1st rounder above 15 AND a 2nd rounder is too much frankly. probably the reason lombardi isnt a GM anymore. A first rounder for cassel itself is good enough if we get it.

There's a better chance of you or I stealing Gisele from TFB than there is of Matt Cassel playing for the JEST in 2009.

A number of the 32 teams in the NFL are set at QB. Absent a devastating injury in the very near future to the incumbent, Cassell is not -- for example -- going to Indy or Pitt.
And the Pats, while perhaps reluctant to send a good and well-coached QB to a division rival, would in my opinion indeed do so for sufficient compensation.
