Remember how tomorrow is the 5 year anniversary of XXXVIII. So just curious-where were y'all, what were you doing, and what kind of conversations were you having on today's anniversary of 1/31/04?
Me-after seeing "Torque"(a very bad Ice Cube motorcyle action movie) with my dad, I was at Applebee's in New Orleans with my family celebrating my sister-in-law's birthday. When I went into the restroom, pretty much what the stranger I talked to with was what was buzzing the prior 2 weeks around the city...excitement over the former Lafayette Rajin Cajun, New Orleans Saint Jake Delhomme.
Edit: 1/31/04 being Super Bowl Eve

Re: FYI-2009 has the SAME calendar year as 2004...
Huh, interesting. Well, I was waiting for my pregnant wife to finally get here after a year of INS bull*****. I flew from NJ to Omaha to watch the game with my best friend at the same bar that I watched SB XXXVI. We got to the bar around 2 and started drinking Long Island's and Cherry Bomb's (Red Bull and cherry vodka). By the time the game started I could barely focus. I sort of remembered kickoff, and I knew we won on a Vinatieri kick, but that was about it. A $200 bill and 4 packs of cigarettes later, the Pats were world champions and we were in a cab going back to his apartment.

Very cool. I was a sophomore in college. Sitting in my dorm room with six of my teammates, huddled around our little 34" tv. Four of us were New Englanders, the other two were from the south. They were thrown out of the room before the start of the fourth quarter. We drank suprisingly little for sophomores. That said, we did kill 6 tins of Skoal between us that night. I remember just holding my hand in the air at the end, feeling triumphant for nothing I had done, and saying "That's two!"

Nice thread. On the couch in my house. I was alone for the second half (as I prefer for big games) with my wife and 3 young kids upstairs asleep and our friends having alredy gone home. I'll never forget that sinking feeling when Carolina went up in the 4th. I kept moving around the room until I found a lucky position ... and thank god I did.

First half at a Super Bowl party in Atlanta (Yearly event among our group of Friends) - Second Half sitting on my couch at my house watching the game because I could not stand being around a bunch of people who did not care about the outcome of the game.

Re: FYI: 2009 has the SAME calendar year as 2004...
I was in my home office, watching on a couch with my wife. Because of the 2001 victory over the Rams, I will now only watch Patriots' Super Bowls on a 25 inch cathode-tube RCA bought in 1991. I watched the victory over the Rams on that TV because I was sick and didn't go to SB parties in 2001, I did the same with the Panthers and Eagles (not because I was sick, but from superstition).
Last year, I changed it up, I was very confident in a win over the Giants, so I watched on my 50 inch plasma TV.
From now on, I'm keeping the RCA and watching all Patriots Super Bowls on that.
