Default Super Bowl parties

Who's watching the Super Bowl this year?
I'm trying to get myself interested in this game but I'm having a hard time. I've got an annual party to go to that's been going on since '98 and I'll get to see a lot of cool people. The food will be there and he's got a Guiness keg on tap so I kinda have to go.

Last year seems like ten years ago to me. It's almost like it never happened and I wish it was different, but it ain't.

I'm looking for a good reason to get into the game and actually watch it instead of hanging out on the porch or shooting darts in the basement. Here's what I came up with:

1. The beautiful sight of stunned Steeler fans watching in horror as their chance at being one of the great teams of the decade vanishes when Fitzgerald runs over the Steelers D for a 30 yard catch for the winning TD with 0:07 left.

2. The Cardinals, who got b!tch-slapped by the Pats in week 16, win the game and make the pain of not getting into the playoffs with 11 wins even more exuisite and intense.

3. Big Ben breaks his own record for quarterback futility in a SB and loses this time.

4. Watching how Cardinals fans react to winning the SB and whether they act like we did vs. the Rams for the first time.

5. Just to watch the Steelers lose yet another big game.

I'm vacationing south of Tamper on AMI and surrounded by Squealers fans who admit Brady was good but chant "He's Done! And the D is old!" Thanks to Curran et. al. for giving trash fodder to the other 31 teams' fans.

Having a similar problem cannot get revved up to watch a team that we beat 47-7... my brain cannot compute that we are not there and that this crappy team is.

I'll watch it (haven't missed one yet). Good background for having a few good people over, some good grub. Go Cardinals!

Nice job! All good reasons to watch. I'll add one: to root for my squares in the pool. I team up each year with 2 buddies and we each buy 1 square for a $100 and split whatever we win. We won the final score once in the '90's (one of the Bills SBs) and we also won the final score of the Pats first 2 SB wins. Total take divided by 3 guys= approx. $25,000=$8,000+ each.

I'll watch cuz I watch the SB every year, but I couldn't possibly care any less than I do about this SB. GSP v. Penn OTOH is the premiere sporting event of the weekend.

Stopping in Ybor City before and during the Super Bowl then me and my friends will be making our way over to some bars in Downtown Tampa once the Super Bowl is over. We may try to get into some celebrity parties (the Playboy party would be nice) but I'm not too sure of our chances being that we're non-celebrities. Oh, and I'll be rocking my #81 Pats jersey too.

I will be going to a few different parties, not just to try to get into watching the game, but also for the food and the beer!
