As a fan it's all based around how much banter i can make with fellow football fans. Since most of my friends are Jet and Bill fans, I'd take team A, provided we beat the rival teams consistently.

If it was a team that never saw the teams of other fans i meet, I might go for team B so I could argue in terms of superbowls, but mostly I'd take team A.

As a coach I'd also take team A. From a coaching standpoint the better my win percentage the better my reputation. How much do you think teams would pay for marty schottenheimer?

and team A for the owner too. Consistently putting a team in the playoffs coaxes fans into the superbowl spirit and makes them go out to buy team stuff.

Both options suck. Option C: We go 19-0 for five years in a row, winning a Super Bowl each time.

While as a fan I would rather see that championship (team B), I would also rather see the team take the approach that would more likely result in the results of team A (winning 12 or more games, going deep in to the playoffs.) Teams built for 'one season' rarely succeed - the Ravens in 2000 the exception, and the Redskins in the first few years with Dan Snyder as owner being the rule.

I'd rather the team that I am a fan of take the philosophy of building for long term success, make the playoffs, and roll the dice once in the playoffs than to go all out for one season and put the team in cap hell and rebuilding mode for several years after that.

The closest examples would be Philly (2000-2004) for Team A and St. Louis (1995-1999) for Team B. You always take St. Louis.
