Even as I bite my lip and root for the Jets to actually win a game, it seems clear that if Mangini lets both Patriots and Jets fans alike down on Sunday, he'll be coaching his last game as HC of the NYJs (or HC or Assistant Coach or Ball Boy anywhere, with few organizations likely willing to share their secrets by bringing a snitch into their organization.)
And although I have to confess a degree of schadenfreude at the prospect of Mangini being fired, it seems to me that Patriots fans - yay, all the teams in the AFC East, and the NFL for that matter - have a vested interest in keeping that "Mangenius" of a coach right where he is.
Sure, we all know the drill - $140 million in the offseason, choosing a $12 million, 40 year old 9-6 QB over a much cheaper and younger 10-5 QB, and failing to capitalize with that investment in a year when their biggest division rival is without their starting QB, RB, and half a dozen defensive starters. All of that has Jets fans calling for the head of their "Genius" coach, who have finally recognized that Mangini generally does all the rest of the AFC East teams a big favor with his questionable coaching and drafting input.
But perhaps if we all band together - Patriots Fans, Dolphins Fans, Bills Fans - heck, all fans in the NFL, and let Woody Johnson, *giggle* the owner of the Jets know that WE SUPPORT ERIC and want to see the Jets keep him as Head Coach, maybe, just maybe, he'll give him another shot and keep him on for next season, even if they continue to choke and lose next week.
Feel free to email the Jets organization and share your thoughts here: Contact Us
And be sure to encourage fans of other AFC East to write to the Jets in support of Coach Mangenius as well.
(Note: If showing some support for the Narc is just asking too much, my secondary recommendation would be to suggest to Woody Johnson *giggle* that he hire Herm Edwards, reportedly soon to be available, as his next head coach.)

That would open the door to another head coach coming in and maybe doing something good with the organization. I say maybe because something like that has not happened very often.
We as Pats fans enjoy the Jets' epic ineptitude. While we will be rooting for you (puke) this weekend to beat the Dolphins so we can skate on into the playoffs, we will still be laughing if you lose. Besides, changing coaches at this point would be fruitless. What would you do? Clean house now only to have to clean house again 7 years from now when you realize that you still suck?
So, in the end, stick with Mangini. Who knows, maybe he can one day get you back into the playoffs only to get annihilated in the first round again. Hey, anything is better than spending the most money out of any other team in free agency, watching your number one competition lose it's Hall of Fame QB and half it's starting defense only to choke at the end of the season to some of the worst teams in the NFL and not make the playoffs AGAIN... right?
Sincerely,
Sean (Concerned Pats Fan)

Re: Petition to keep MangIdiot as the HC of the NYJs
Since this team that
's falling apart is based on expensive, over the hill players,I would like to see him suffer a Lions like collapse before being fired.
Of course the might rehire Herman Edwards, in which case he has to go.

Re: Petition to keep MangIdiot as the HC of the NYJs
All of the ESPN talking heads are saying Mangini will be back. Thing is where is a better coach coming from? I do agree that Mangini looks like a weak coach like Mike Nolan of the 49ers did. By weak, I mean, do the players go to war behind the guy? The new coach in SF, Singletary, does look like that go to war behind him kind of coach though. I just heard that ownership is getting ready to remove the interim status with him. If they didn't, I'd want him for my team, except we already have BB!
