MOSS FINED FOR RITICIZING REFS
Posted by Mike Florio on November 9, 2008, 12:20 p.m.

Jay Glazer of FOX reports that Patriots receiver Randy Moss has been slapped with a $20,000 fine for recent criticisms of the officials.

“A lot of guys are really down because we let a game like this slip,” Moss said after Sunday night’s loss to the Colts. “But when things happen, you have to watch what you say. Guys don’t want to get fined. But there was some real iffy calls out there.

“Some of the things you wish wouldn’t happen. But good calls and bad calls are part of the game. You’ve got to live with that one, the good and the bad.”

Though Moss surely thought he didn’t cross the line, this fine proves that the league is serious about requiring players, coaches, and other team officials to use internal channels to voice concerns about the officiating — and to say nothing at all about calls that they believe to be bad or botched or iffy or any other negative adjective.

I wonder how Moss is going to pay it?

Is the NFL another damn country? I could have sworn that it was part of the UNITED STATES where we have that thing called FREEDOM OF SPEECH.
This is getting ridiculous.

I really hope that the NFLPA tells Goodell to go ****** himself with all these fines come the next CBA. Seriously, that is just ridiculous.

This fine on Moss is appropriate.

It's right in line with the Spygate fine against the Pats.

In terms of the ratio of the amount of the fine to the seriousness of the offense, it's appropriate.

If you're going to get a #1 stripped away for doing what every other team does, then it makes sense that you'd get fined $20k for pointing out that there are sometimes bad calls in games, and as a player, you have to live with them. $20k for essentially saying nothing. A #1 for essentially doing nothing.

Goodell.
