Default My Bottom Line On QB's

1) I would rather that we signed a veteran in Cassel's place.
2) I would rather that we kept Gutierrez in Cassells place.
3) I would like us to sign or trade for a veteran QB to start after the bye (Garcia anyone?).
4) I would like us to sign a backup veteran as insurance if we can't get a starter.
5) I think we can win with Cassel (Garcia would be better I think)

For now, we have Cassel is our QB. We will be playing two more aweful teams in the next two weeks and then a bye, but division game are always tough. Cassel couldn't ask for a better situation. The team couldn't ask for better either: a soft schedule and an early bye.

With Cassel I expect 10-6, enough to win the division. With Garcia, I would expect 12-4 and home field advantage.

Matt Cassel is taking us to SB 43 (possibly in his minivan).

Matt G is in the pratice squad and except for the 1 drive against the ravens he been total lack luster. Do not let doubt on casell let you believe that Matt G is better.

Coaches see them through 2 full offseason now.they evaulute game tape and cut Matt G. again i want to be told what you are basing your decision.

Garcia fit well or that matter any QB can be make a big improvement if the system is similar. we are told again and again its is not. If you bring in garcia then you just thrown your playbook in the trash and start a new one and have 1 week to coach all your WR,TE and OC to learn a west coast offence.

I can garcia being good but you need some time to change your entire offence and make your WR,TE,Backs pick up the system.this extreme you cannot thrash years of work and passing camp, training camp and all workand replace a new one overnight. are you realistic.?You in essence destroyed your entire offence and think this will not cause confusion and crappy execution from 11 starters?

For reference, look back on the Jets season around December when they close up shop for the year.

No one listened to me when I defended CAssel all preseason and said he would make the team, not GUtierrez.

Now you have seen the truth but do you really see?

No, you are in denial.

This isn't fantasy football, where players are interchangeable. Did you learn nothing in 2001 aobut team?

BB rallied around Cassel, told the team he is the QB, showed faith in Cassel by sending Simms and Rattay home. The team has rallied around Cassel, and all have said they are moving on.

Do you have any idea what will happen to the team if BB waffles now and shows no faith in Cassel. A QB is 1/22 of a team. The team will be lost if BB drops Cassel at this point.

Regardless of who can show the best stats, this TEAM has a better chance of winning with Cassel because he is the BEST QUARTERBACK for this TEAM.

Admit you were wrong. Get on the bandwagon before you destroy your rep.

Bingo. I'm starting to really see NOTHING about this team is simple. A guy who's studied WITH the team and played against the most chameleonic D in the NFL in practice for 3+ years and who has learned all the same plays and been coached identically to Tom is the ONLY choice for our current situation.

When it's spelled out like that, especially watching the Jets have to sweat out Mr. Aw Shucks from the sidelines, it's a straight up no-brainer.

there was a reason that Cassel stuck around... and there is a reason why he is here now.

I'm a Cassel supporter.

Sorry, have to disagree at this point in time. I also have doubts but
am really hoping Matt can do well and is doing well by week 6 or so.

Unless Cassel completely falls apart he IS the best solution.
Even if he stinks up the joint what do you do?
Any new QB would have to learn a very evolved offense. Then that QB
would have work with the WRs to get their timing down. Sure you
could modify things but the bottom line any new QB would effect a lot of
parts from the OC' job down to the Oline, WRs, RBs and TE.
That is a huge task.
Cassel knows the system and knows it better that anyone in the league.
I know he will make mistakes but I'm just hoping he will learn fast and by
week 5 or 6 he has obtained the confidence he will need.

Also as long as you are not changing the offense to fit a new QB, Tom
could be a valuable mentor to Matt.
