Default How involved will Brady be with the team & Cassel going forward?

I'm guessing there's probably no doubt that Tom Brady has been a huge part in the development of Matt Cassel up to this point in Cassel's career. Will the ACL rehabilitation process prevent this from continuing? Or will Brady have the opportunity to provide the same guidance & support for Cassel that Drew gave him in 01?

If the opportunity presents itself, I can see Brady almost being another offensive coach on this squad. We know he is basically 3rd on the list in the decision making process in the offense, right up there with McD and BB and is part of the game-planning meetings. Will this continue? Will he be on the sidelines during games to point out things to Cassel?

I fear the answer is "no" simply due to the nature of the injury. But I sincerely hope not. Because I can see Brady really contributing, despite being on IR, this year by helping shape Cassel into a backup that can take this extremely talented team into the playoffs.

I think on the field he'd be a HUGE distraction.

How so? No knock on McD who is obviously a great coach, but Brady has invaluable amounts of experience & knowledge that the OC has no way of beginning to convey to Cassel. Why not have that asset available during a game?

i dont think you will see brady. unless he wants to and able to very late in the season. BB doesnt like injured players on the sideline and i think it will be a distraction to everyone unintentionally.

My guess, Tom will be sending him emails and talking to him on the phone as mentor and friend. I would not be shocked if Tom spends some of his time in bed watching game tapes so he can make detailed suggestions. When healthy enough he will sit in Kraft's box for home games.

Having him on the sidelines would be a huge distraction.

Initially following ACL reconstruction, patients can expect to be using crutches from one to three weeks.

Sure, but Brady's genius is diagnosing a play as he stand in front of it.
That won't help Cassel and it will amplify the "Tom could have pulled that off" factor everytime something doesn't go right for Matt.

I'd love it, on TV, but in a real situation, I think it's a bad idea.

I think that Brady will be as helpful to Cassel as Bledsoe was to Brady. Brady will be there as much as he possibly can. Now I don't know if I expect him to be there this Sunday, depending on when his surgery is skedded for, but as soon as he can be there to help he will be.

I disagree with the assessment he'd be a distraction. Having a guy there that knows as much as Brady can only help.
