All you people ragging on Cassel claiming that "he just barely beat the 'worst defense' in the league" how about you read and reply to this. And I am giving this its own thread because you all seem to be ignoring it in the other ones.

4) The other two possessions were 3 and outs.
5) The 2nd series was ended when Sammy Morris didn't pick up the blitz properly and missed the late defender who came in on a stunt.
6) The 3rd series was ended when the Patriots, on 2 straight running plays, couldn't pick up 2 yards. In fact, they telegraphed the plays so badly that the chiefs had 9 in the box the 1st time and 9 in the box the second time.
7) The only other play of the 2nd series that Matt Cassel had a direct hand in was the pass to Gaffney, which Gaffney dropped.
So, what more could Matt Cassel have done yesterday?
And this too for good measure:

1) Was Matt Cassel on the field when either of Randy Moss, Wes Welker or Matt Slater committed their fumbles yesterday?
2) Was Matt Cassel on the field at the end of the game when the secondary broke down and allowed the long completion to Devard Darling?
3) Was Matt Cassel the one responsible for the 2 conscutive 3 and outs in the 4th quarter? You know where the 1st series ended when Morris missed a blitz pick-up on a stunt and the 2nd series where they tried to run the ball 3 straight times only to get stuffed on the 3rd one.
4) Was Matt Cassel the one responsible for the Patriots offense only getting the ball ONCE in the 3rd quarter and allowing the Chiefs to have the ball for roughly 8 minutes and 35 seconds.
I'd love to hear your answers and your explanations.

As I said in another thread. If Welker and Moss don't fumble, we beat the Chiefs either 27-10 or 31-10, and Cassel is responsible for 17 of those points. So the "WE ONLY BEAT THE CHIEFS BY 7!!@#" garbage should not be a valid comment by Cassel bashers. He should've come into the game w a lead given those two Brady-led drives were on their way to scoring points before the fumbles.

I haven't really seen any "Cassell-ragging" going on.
Have I been just missing it?
If anyone was gonna rag the boy, it would have been me, and I certainly think he did a very nice job yesterday. In fact, if he can continue to play at that servicable level, I think we will be okay with him running the show.
Now granted, the Chiefs are not a great team, but they DO have a decent defense, and Cassell was able to keep things running against them.
I like Simms coming in as an insurance policy, but, based on yesterday's performance and certainly his pre-season showing notwithstanding, I think Matt will be fine.
On another note, do we even know FOR SURE that Brady is out for the year?
And, also agreed, Moss' fumble was huge, because it killed a scoring drive. What happened? He didn't even get hit. He just fell down and spit up the ball!

Thats Cassells fault since he scares nobody and teams can load up on our running game.
Just wait until he falls on his face the ballwashers will change there tune drastically.

From all accounts (Except the one that matters in Foxboro) Matt Cassel is my Quarterback now, I'm behind him %100. If BB feels Chris Simms or Tim Rattay or Daunte Culpepper, or the Tooth Fairy gives the team a better chance to win I'll be %100 behind them too.

How is it Cassel's fault that McDaniels called 3 straight running plays? The Chiefs loading the box had NOTHING to do with whether Cassel scared people. It had to do with the Patriots telegraphing the run.
BTW, the people who are defending cassel are not Cassel ballwashers. They are friggin realists who have a better understanding of the game than you do.

I haven't seen a bit of it. I think everybody appreciates how well Cassel handled a tough assignment yesterday.
DaBruinz, speculating on the season-long starting QB situation isn't ragging on Cassel's performance. It's just acknowledging that the position is now up for scrutiny for the first time in a long, long time.
