there are times however he can go deep and get one..aka houston playoff game

Hahahaha! I sure hope this isn't true. Not sure Amendola and Edelman combined can stay on the field the whole season.

Let sign Welker now and get this deal done and move forward. A $8-$9 million per year deal for 3 years would be a great deal for the Patriots. Let's do this!!

I love Welker, he's such a warrior. BUT, at his age, and the beating he takes, I hope he doesn't take up too much cap space. I'd like to see them resign Edelman as well, he knows the system, is a good return man, and good insurance in the event Welker gets hurt. Anything over 7.5 a year might be overpayment. Anything over 4 years is too much. That's just my opinion. We still need help defensively, still need help WR-wise, could use help if Volmer signs elsewhere. 7.5 will be a big chunk of what we have available with our cap money.

That would be the brilliance of it! Combined, they should be able to stay on the field long enough to make a more-than-adequate replacement for Branch.

Yeah, he should be okay

I'll take 1 of that 40 million and be "set for life."

While I'd like to think that a deal is close, the reason why I doubt it is because they didn't tag him. If both sides were close, why not tag him just to be safe? They weren't going to use it on anyone else, and they have the cap space. Welker wouldn't sign the tender if he thought a long-term deal was close, and the Pats could always withdraw the tender if they wanted to.

Plus, worst comes to worst, you can scrap them both and build up the working parts to salvage a Frankenstein-esque NFL receiver. Call him Edelmandola.

I'm still not convinced that Welker and Edelman aren't the same person.

I've spent the last 13 months reading about how a Welker deal is "almost done." I'll believe it when it's done for real. I have a feeling he 's gone. Hope I 'm wrong.
