Murphy's a bit like Chad Jackson. He's got all the physical tools in terms of size, speed and ability, but has never really produced on a high level. I'm not sure how much more can be expected after 4 years in the league.

Holmes I wanted here as a 2011 UDFA, so I hope he makes it.

Ebert & Aiken, however, are nothing more than TC fodder, as befitting their (lack of) talent.

Too bad Greg Salas isn't a FA; I guess his rookie contract goes with him from team to team.

There's no way I'm paying Welker 8 figures/year. If 3 years/$25M isn't enough, then sayonara.
If Brady wants Welker that badly, then let him take a pay cut. It's not like he needs the money,
unless he has another $20M mansion with a moat somewhere he wants to build.

As for WRs at whom we have a realistic shot (ruling out Bowe, Jennings, Wallace), I would offer
$20M/4 max for Hartline. Nobody else is worth even half that, though I would kick the tires of
Brandon Gibson, Donnie Avery, Domenik Hixon, Kevin Ogletree, Jerome Simpson, Louis Murphy,
and Devery Henderson. I would also re-sign Edelman, who should not break the bank, at all.

Whoever the Pats sign for, trade for, etc...please don't give them the #17...it's jinxed...

This offseason, it's almost like Belichick is saying, "I'm never going to let that happen again."

Tom Brady wasn't throwing him the ball. He needs better coaching but he's not like Jackson at all. If you want talent you have to take a chance. I'd call Coach Meyer and inquire.

He has experience in a more complex kind of offense where one needs to have decent knowledge of all of the specific nuances. At least he's not coming from Pittsburgh.

He'd be affordable.

He's proven to be able to catch the ball on medium to longer routes, so I think his hands are good. He put up decent YPA in at least 2-3 yrs that were in the high teens or early twenties.

He's durable. If you look at the games played, he doesn't miss much, if at all.

It could be argued that some of his production tailed off due to Sproles being implemented into the system this year, with Graham being a favorite target in the past couple of years. On top of that Colston is Brees' "go to" guy, and that's not even taking into account Lance Moore either. The year before Robt Meachem saw some of the other targets.

I'm not claiming that he'd be a mega player, but I do think that he could reasonably offer an upgrade at the WR3 spot, yes.
I really could not have said it better. Henderson still has the speed, but more importantly the break away speed, team player, gets complicated offenses, works hard, and does not say much. Hes five-foot-eleven, 200-pound wideout, and offers a fine burst of speed off the line and premium top speed when on the flat. His downfield acceleration is first-rate, and he is a breakout threat after making a catch, using his speed to run through arm tackles.
Payton only hired him for that single purpose. He was a track star in college, and payton just wanted a guy that could flat out beat everyone down field.

He always does pretty well, and never misses a 2nd catch. Teams are forced to put thier fastest CB on him, or he starts to show up in games. That frees up Colston,Moore, Graham, etc.
Because we have seen every time they dont respect him, and they switch because Colston is hot, he makes a play. He shines some games and you think hes going to be a force, then disapears in the shadows for 1-2 games. Hes a solid #3 WR or deep threat.

Problem is we have 1 other guy that can do the same thing now for cheaper, and Joe Morgan is better than meachum in my opinion. Hes like a meachum/Henderson hybrid. 4.4 speed, 1.56 at 10 yards, verticle 36, so not a jumper.
I think a lot of fans would fall in love with henderson there, like we did.
He has really big plays when you need them. Like in the NE vs NO game. And a really meak person, never has a bad thing to say. I think he thinks he proves everything on the field, was what he said in the 1st year here.

New Orleans Saints receiver Devery Henderson shines in loss to Jacksonville | NOLA.com

He one handed catches the ball alot, concentrates well, even when double covered. Like most WR's your asking to not be in the HOF, or do 1000 yards by being on the Saints. There is almost not chance to be famous on this team.
I just dont think we can give him the contract he desurves. Hes always been in the right place at the right moment we needed him, and works so hard every year. And never a peep.
Henderson is very tough, and I cant even remeber when he had a injury he didnt play threw, except 2008. He reminds me of Hines Ward, but with way better speed.
Our fans accually think Henderson will play longer than any reciever we have, including Colston. Henderson can go till 35 and not miss a step, maybe longer in the NFL when his abilites start to diminish, very durable.
You can look for the Saints to try and keep him, but if the Patriots offer him a good deal, Im sure SP will talk to him, and tell him that he needs to take it and move on. Its a good ball club and fans that can appreciate his effort. Ill say one thing, hes way better than lloyd in the short term. Henderson will understand you plays easy, and be effective in the 1st season for maybe 5-7 games of the season.
He dosnt cry, whine, or make excuses. Hes a good football player, and a decent if not amazing WR sometimes.

Early years he was more effective because we did not have that many weapons

hes very fast, hes been clocked at 4.22 here some times, but I could post 40 of these bombs to henderson, your fans can look up the rest. He is a deep threat, and will catch the ball. Just not very respected. Im not sure payton will let him leave, but we will see. Meaning who wouldnt want a DH on there team.

I think you get him with a fair contract for 2 years or more, otherwise you dont. No way Henderson is leaving NO for a 1 year deal, he likes it here.
Perfect deal for Henderson would be 5 million guaranteed over 3 years, 15 million based on performance, and Ill bet good money , youll owe him more thant 15 million in the end.

ridicules, guessing you picked lloyd as the new hope. How did that work out?

Henderson is way better than lloyd, youll learn. Just saying henderson has proven himself, lloyd a pipe dream of hope. I hope we keep Henderson.

Come on, now. I know he's a Saint and all, so you want to defend him, but he's not close to Lloyd.
