*Think that it is too early to get a jump start on the 2006 NFL Draft... well then you are looking to get left behind... our staff can help organize or contribute to your organization, franchise, player rep recruiting list or media coverage now so that you will be ahead of the curve when the new cycle of scouting starts later this spring... please contact our office over the next 4-6 weeks for more information.

*The updated "TEAM NEEDS" section is posted at the end of this report, so that it does not disturb the rest of the information provided today... we will update it as necessary between now and April 22nd.

*If any/all of your clients have setup private visits/workouts leading up to the draft we are creating a chart for that, as well, since it has been requested.

*If you would like to include any/all Pro Day results, updates or information, please send it to [email protected] or 504.415.9979 before 7pm eastern each day for inclusion in the next day's report.

2005 NFL DRAFT PICK BREAKDOWN:

Here is a look at how each team's crop of draft picks breaks down for the upcoming NFL Draft... we have put the number of "Day One" draft choices in parentheses next to each team's name... what this does is help you get an idea of when and where a team could look to move up or down during the draft... SAN FRANCISCO owns two of the most valuable draft choices, #1 overall and #102 overall, as the #102 pick is the first pick of "Day Two", which comes after all teams have had a chance to review the top available players on their draft board... the chance for a trade within picks #102 to #110 move up greatly, as do the actual "Value" of the pick you are dealing, as several teams treat the first 10-12 picks of the fourth round, as if they are late-third round choices... ARIZONA also has a strong pick to possibly deal, as pick #95 overall is the last pick available to be dealt on "Day One", as picks #96 to #101 were rewarded as Compensation choices and therefore cannot be traded by the teams that own their rights... if your post-draft dinner plans get delayed you will be able to blame PHILADELPHIA, as they own three of the final ten choices in the seventh round of the draft (#245, #247 and #252)... oddly enough Philadelphia, New England, St. Louis and San Francisco will basically own the clock between picks #245 and #255, as they combine to own 9 of the final 10 selections of this year's draft... conversely, Green Bay (#180) and NY Giants (#186) will be able to packup early, as their final draft choices are in the sixth round.

PRO DAY SCHEDULE:

*COLORADO STATE senior offensive lineman ERIK PEARS will be working out on-campus on April 13th... he had surgery to repair a partially torn labrum in his left shoulder the week after the East-West Shrine Game... the surgery was performed by Dr. Ted Schlegel (Denver Broncos team doctor)... he will be doing the 40-yard dash, agility and possibly some positional drills... but not the bench press; prior to the injury he was recording 27-32 reps of 225 pounds... he attended the Combine medical re-check in Indianapolis last weekend, getting solid reviews from the doctors who were surprised with the improvement he has made in just the past 4-6 weeks.

VIRGINIA STATE senior defensive lineman/deep snapper NEIL PURVIS (#55) is looking to workout for scouts between now and the draft... the two previous Pro Days scheduled, both his own and the one at James Madison were canceled... it would be most ideal for teams to get his deep snap times... as he attended the Las Vegas All-Star Classic... so most of his other numbers have been recorded at some point... weighs 6020, 283 pounds... had 53 tackles, 22 tackles for loss, three sacks, five pass breakups, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery, as a senior... should nothing new be scheduled by this Saturday he will be doing a full deep-snap workout, which will be filmed, at Virginia Commonwealth's soccer fields, which is located near his campus... please contact his agent for more information.

ARIZONA STATE (April 6th) senior quarterback ANDREW WALTER will be working out on-campus for scouts on Wednesday, April 6th... former Nebraska offensive lineman RICHIE INCOGNITO, who has been training in Arizona, may also be in attendance for this workout... and Arizona State senior safety RICCARDO STEWART, who did not run the 40-yard dash at the school's first Pro Day, might also decide to workout.

TENNESSEE (April 6th) senior linebacker KEVIN BURNETT will be working out on-campus for scouts on Wednesday, April 6th... several other seniors may also be in attendance for additional workouts.

WISCONSIN (April 11th) senior safety/return man JIM LEONHARD and senior tight end TOM PACIOTTI will be working out for scouts on Monday, April 11th, starting at 1:00PM... please contact their respective agents for more information.

NORTHERN ILLINOIS (April 13th) senior wide receiver/return man DAN SHELDON and senior linebacker/defensive end TRAVIS MOORE (#56) will both be working out on-campus for scouts on Wednesday, April 13th... senior offensive linemen JAKE VERSTRAETE (#66) and MATT MCGHGHY (#71) have both received additional attention, since the school's first Pro Day... please contact their respective agents for more information.

MISSOURI senior offensive tackle SCOTT PAFFRATH (#78) is currently looking for the chance to workout on-campus for scouts/coaches before the draft... played left tackle, as a senior... his current numbers are 5.26 40-time... 4.78 short shuttle... 7.59 three-cone... 26" vertical... 8'8" broad jump... 20 reps of 225 pounds... weighs 6050, 290 pounds... had a severe case of strep throat leading up to the first Pro Day and lost 12 pounds... Please contact his agent for additional information.

DRAFT DAY VALUE BOARD:

Our staff will pick 1-2 guys per day who have the chance to come off the board earlier than expected through the seven rounds of the draft based on their position and the strength/weakness of that spot in this year's draft.

SOUTH CAROLINA senior linebacker MARCUS LAWRENCE is one of the players that could find himself getting called earlier than expected come draft day... at 6021, 243 pounds... he has the size several teams are searching for at SLB and also has prior experience in the middle, as well... according to one team source, he played every game after the Georgia contest, which was early September with a severely pulled groin muscle (left side), which required constant extra treatments, but he did not miss many practices and took the field every week... drawn additional interest from Cincinnati, Cleveland, Detroit, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay... 3-4 teams feel he can play inside... 4-3 teams have evaluated him at both middle and strong-side... switched between both spots during the Senior Bowl practices... as a whole this draft does not have great depth at the linebacker position, which should lead to increased visibility for a guy like this... expect to see him come off the board between picks #71 and #93 of the third round, as each of the teams previously mentioned have choices during that point of the draft.

PRO DAY RESULTS: (As of April 4th):

UL-LAFAYETTE (April 1st/March 10th) senior defensive back/return man ANTWAIN SPANN (#6) has drawn a lot of "Under-the-Radar" attention... has been timed in the mid-to-high 4.4 range... very athletic... played mostly free safety as a senior, but being evaluated mostly as a cornerback... aggressive... pretty good tackler for his size... also shows some explosiveness when given the chance to return kickoffs... recorded 68 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, four interceptions and nine pass breakups, as a senior... led the team with four interceptions, also returned one for a touchdown and averaged 22.2 yards on returns of those interceptions... averaged 27.2 yards per kickoff return in limited chances (four)... had six interceptions and 15 pass breakups over the past two years... scored a pair of touchdowns on turnovers... weighs 5112, 188 pounds... transferred from Mississippi Gulf Coast CC... California native.

TULANE (April 1st) senior linebacker WESLEY HEATH ran between 4.72 and 4.76 in the 40... 7.08 three-cone... his results were recorded at the school's second Pro Day.

WILLIAM PENN (April 1st) senior wide receiver EDWARD SIMMS (#88) ran between 4.52 and 4.56 in the 40... weighed in at 6030, 221 pounds... also did positional drills and caught passes... spent extra time speaking with special teams coach Danny Smith... all of his results came as part of a pre-draft workout with Washington held on Friday, April 1st.

TOLEDO (March 29th) senior wide receiver/return man LANCE MOORE ran between 4.50 and 4.54 in the 40... some had him a little faster (4.49)... 4.32 short shuttle... 7.12 three-cone... 11.98 60-yard... 39.7" vertical and 9'9" broad jump... his odd vertical jump result is because they used a device that measured the results up to tenths of an inch... so it is actually 39 7/10"... weighed in at 5091, 182 pounds... was not able to workout earlier, as he was injured in the teams bowl game... senior tight end CHRIS HOLMES ran between 5.00 and 5.02 in the 40... some had him a little slower (5.06)... 5.18 short shuttle... 8.02 three-cone... 28.2" vertical and 8'3" broad jump... weighed in at 6046, 273 pounds... very good natural size and showed good hands when given the chance the past two years... these were disappointing results, but he does some good things on film, and has room to improve as both a blocker and receiver... all times were recorded on an outdoor rubber track surface, which is considered a good running surface, while the drills were done on FieldTurf surface.

VANDERBILT (March 18th) senior running back NORVAL MCKENZIE (#9) ran between 4.50 and 4.51 in the 40... some had him faster (4.47)... 4.21 short shuttle... 6.80 three-cone... 35.5" vertical... 9'2" broad jump and also did 21 reps of 255... weighed in at 5096 and 205 pounds... had 13 carries for 80 yards at the LVAAC... showed good vision and some cut-back ability in that game... was a tough runner in the SEC the past few years; averaged 4.7 yars per carry over his entire career, as well as 4.7 yards per carry against SEC opponents.
